About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live life by my design. A work in progress and a constant backdrop in my mind :) Goal that will support this is getting into Real Estate Investing. Specifically, Buy and Hold Multifamily investing. My next big goal ;)

ABOUT ME

Hi! My name is Kyle. Jamaican born, New York raised and trying to navigate through life like the rest of us 🤣. Love meeting and connecting with people and have to admitted, I haven't been on this platform in over 10 years. Still think it's a great way to exchange and meet fascinating individuals, as I have currently. Exciting to see this looks like today!

I think I'm like many: I'm a foodie (as many are), love to travel (clearly like many here), enjoy live music and dancing when I can, and spending time with family and friends. Big gamer though I definitely don't indulge the way I once did. Ditto for anime, TV shows and movies.

The area I'm easily an outcast...sports (used to be a big Knicks fan in the 90's and haven't looked back since.)

PHILOSOPHY

Chose kindness. For self and for others. I don't waste time worry how many "bad" people are out in the world. I do what I can to put kindness, love and joy out in the world as often as possible. What I walk with, all the time. A huge part of who I am and who I continue to chose to be.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I joined this community 10 years ago and have always enjoyed the experience of meeting and connecting with people from all over. I'm back here to keep that joy present. To connect and share as much as I can. Great community here.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None as of yet but I'm definitely looking forward to it.

Interests

Food and the cultures that surround it. Easily a standout. I literally get excited for food.

I enjoy music as well. Big 90s - 2000s, primarily Hip hop and R&B but across other genres, eras and languages as well.

I enjoy dancing. Generally speaking, I'll move if music is on. Especially live. More specific. Looking to pick up Salsa On 2 and Bachata currently. Love the musics within these genres and hope to become proficient enough to hold my own on the dance floor. In time 😁

Movies...not nearly enough as I used to. Still enjoy a good watch though.

Books, sorta reading either what's expected of me (a.k.a HW), real estate books, some self helps and whatever may come my way and/or seem interesting.

Culture for sure! The exchanging and learning of the different customs, structures, history, etc. This is the bug that bit me late in life and continue to be fascinated with this kind of exchange.

Games+Anime. Both are soft spots for me. Part of my childhood. It's the inner kid that I love feeding when I can.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I enjoyed "swimming" out in the Phi Phi islands. Of course I was wearing life vest because swimming is a skill I haven't learned yet, and the amount of fear that was in my heart hearing about reef sharks and sea urchins underneath, maybe skipped a heartbeat or two. But after all of that subsided, the view and experience was wonderful.

Oh! And the amazing thing I've seen or done is help people. Lights me up each time and really aim to continue giving back ;)

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: "When you are up to anything in life, regardless of how big or small, you are going to have and experience breakdowns. Things not working or working as well as you want. In those moments, it may feel like the "breakdown" is what is stopping us.

But know that it's never the breakdowns that stop us, it's the "suffering" we create out of the breakdowns that does.

In those moments, remember that the breakdowns aren't the problem, they are simply part of the process and proof that you ARE up to something. Keep going after your something ;)"

Learn: As much as my mind, body and soul can hold.

Share: Each other stories.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Skillsets...limited.

If there is some trouble with English (that Google/Siri/Alexa can't solve) I may be able to assist a bit.

Aside from this, I think I can make a good butadon (Japanese pork rice bowl dish 🍚) 😬

Countries I’ve Visited

Jamaica, Mexico, Saint Lucia, Thailand

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
