About Me

Hello!
I'm currently a senior at the University of Washington studying biology. I'm hoping to get into medical school, and would like to specialize in emergency medicine. I work as an EMT in a small ER, and volunteer for both the fire department and search and rescue. I also served in the American military for a brief period of time.

My parents worked in international sales, and as a result I did a significant amount of traveling at an early age. I don't speak any languages fluently other than English, but I can get by with my French.

I enjoy all kinds of adventure sports and try to spend as much time outdoors as I possibly can. I'll be backpacking Europe this summer and would greatly appreciate any advice on places to see and things to do in that regard.

I'm a huge fan of stand up comedy. My favorites include Bill Burr, Joe Rogan, Tom Segura, and Kyle Kinane. If you know of anybody I should check out or just want to talk shop let me know!

I don't consider myself a party animal but I enjoy drinking socially and try to go to concerts of any kind as often as possible. I'd really like to experience some of the festivals in Europe during the summer months, and the Running of the Bulls is on my bucket list.

Fitness is extremely important to me and I have competed in several marathons, triathlons and adventure races. I'm also a big fan of combat sports and tend to focus on practical self defense.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm new to couchsurfing but I've been traveling since before I can remember. I'm here to meet new people, share a laugh, grab a drink, and gain experiences beyond what is offered in a guidebook.

I'll be spending the vast majority of summer 2016 solo backpacking through Europe. I have a flexible itinerary but I'll be flying into London and out of Athens. I'm trying to learn more about myself and other parts of the world. If I don't come out of this with at least a few lifelong friends I will be extremely disappointed. While cheap accommodation is a plus I'm here because I want to experience your city! Let me cook you a meal or buy you a drink! It's the absolute least I could do. I will earn my keep.

Since I'm new to this whole couchsurfing thing I haven't had the time available to be a host yet, but I am extremely interested in doing so! I would be looking for like minded people who want more than just a place to crash. Please don't hesitate to call me if you're ever in Seattle.

Interests

The Great Outdoors
I'm the jack of all trades and master of none. I like climbing, scuba diving, hiking, biking, and everything in between. I mostly just enjoy the experience of being outside. One of my favorite things to do is hike out to remote swimming holes. There's no water too cold or cliff too high.
Really hoping to do some diving in Greece and Croatia this summer. Anxious to hear any advice or recommendations.

Traveling
Obviously since I'm on here traveling is an interest of mine. I'm about traveling for the experience and the people. You will never catch me on some cruise ship.

Stand up
I really love stand up. As far as comedians outside the US go I like Jim Jeffries, Ricky Gervais, Jimmy Carr, and Eddie Izzard. I could probably name more if I wanted to but the point is I'm an avid show goer.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music
I have a diverse taste in music that is heavily mood dependent. I pretty much listen to it all.

Movies
I'm a movie buff. I enjoy all things movies but I tend to favor gritty action movies. I have an especially morbid sense of humor. Some of my favorites include Fight Club, No Country For Old Men (Big fan of Cormac McCarthy), Pulp Fiction, The Big Lebowski, and Heat.

Books
I tend to read books oriented towards philosophy or self improvement but I make time for non fiction too. As mentioned above I'm a Cormac McCarthy fan.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once cooked minute rice in 58 seconds.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach
Who knows? I like to think I'm a pretty well rounded guy. I'm pretty sure there is something I could teach you. Especially if you're coming to visit me in Seattle.

Learn
There is something to be learned from everybody. I try to keep an open mind.

Share
Drinks and laugh!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I earn my keep! You won't regret letting me into your household. I'll probably come with a house warming gift. I like to cook but I'd rather you show me around your city and pay for the meal. I'm not opposed to a little bit of labor either.
