About Me

I am the founder and president of my coaching practice, where I help clients function at their highest level of development so they can bring massive, positive impact to their lives and their communities. I do what I love and love what I do.

The nature of my business allows me to travel throughout the year which has been an important part of my life since my days in university. I believe there is aliveness to be shared, whether at home or abroad, and I live to connect with others to share this aliveness and excitement of life.

I like being active and playing sports like tennis, hockey, and soccer. I'm also quite curious so I love learning about the philosophies people live their lives by. I also have a background in urban planning so I find the architecture, art, infrastructure, and social cultures of cities I visit to be mesmerizing.

I have been vegan for 3 years and I've noticed how much enjoyment this adds to my travels. Searching for vegan restaurants and getting to taste different vegan cuisines around the world is a thrill for me. The compassion I share for animals is the same compassion and interest I share for people, regardless of their dietary choices (omnivore, vegetarian, vegan, etc.); I'm always open to answering questions and having meaningful discussions.

Music is one of the greatest sources of inspiration and awe for me. I play guitar and I'm learning to sing. As a lifelong learner I'm also learning Spanish so I like singing in Spanish sometimes too.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I travel often and used to stay in hostels, hotels, etc. While I've enjoyed these experiences and have met an incredible amount of people around the world, most of the people I've met in these places have been other travelers. I would like to connect more with locals and see life from their perspective in the cities I visit.

I really enjoy learning from people and sharing experiences about travel, philosophy, and adventure. I also want to contribute something of value to the places I visit and Couchsurfing is the perfect way to do these things.

In addition to sharing fantastic conversations, I also want to make life a bit easier for the people I stay with by helping with errands, chores, cooking, etc. I love learning new things and I think the world is such a connected place when we can welcomingly open our doors to each other.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In my final year of university, I planned my first trip abroad with one of my best friends. I had no plan in place to make this trip happen at the time, but we set this goal and committed to it. I saved money (which meant surviving off of ramen bowls from corner stores for a couple of months) and made the trip happen. I traveled to southeast Asia for 2.5 months and my life has never been the same since.

For much of my life before that, I avoided meeting new people and speaking in groups or in public. It gave me significant distress and anxiety. During this trip, however, I made sure to embrace this distress and just meet people. I formed friendships around the world, adventured into things that scared me, and saw what it was like to live life at the exciting and terrifying edge of my comfort zone.

When I returned home, I realized that the way I act and feel when I travel could still be possible even when I am home. So, I applied for jobs that scared me and involved meeting people and speaking publicly (sales, marketing, tour guide, etc.). I was hired for each job, and was absolutely terrified before showing up for the first day of each of those jobs. And yet, I promised myself I would stay present with people and just show up as myself; by the end of each day I would leave work thrilled. Some jobs had me speaking to groups of new customers while others had me carrying hour-long conversations with people I had just met.

I learned early on, as I had when connecting with people during my Asia trip, that the thing I had feared for most of my life (connecting deeply with people and sharing this publicly) was actually one of my greatest strengths and what I enjoyed most about life.

Flash forward 5 years later and I now have meaningful, deep conversations with clients and I give leadership training workshops to both nonprofit and corporate organizations. Earlier in my life, I wouldn't have guessed this would be possible for me, let alone something I'd enjoy, but here I am. Even today, I continue to do things that terrify me, but also grow me, as a person and this is exactly what I help people do for themselves now too.

Teach, Learn, Share

TEACH
As a supplement to coaching clients, I teach meditation as a skill for building focus, equanimity, and compassion. I meditate twice a day everyday and lead guided meditations. I'd be more than happy to talk about meditation, what it is, what it's not, and how to incorporate this practice into your life.

I also used to be a cook and cooking is one of my passions so I'm always excited to teach vegan cooking and recipes as well as kitchen tips and tricks to make cooking easier, quicker, and something to look forward to.

LEARN
I would love to learn what growing up in your city was like for you and to know some of the best pieces of advice you have come to realize about life.

I'd also like to learn about your local cuisine and some of your favourite recipes.

SHARE
Let's share travel stories, current aspirations, and what we envision for the future.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Part of what I find most intriguing about travel is learning what everyday life is like in different cities around the world, so I am more than happy to help with chores, errands, and cooking. I am grateful for anyone who opens their home to me and I like to contribute as such in return.

In my business, I coach people to help them clarify their deepest goals and achieve their highest aspirations in less time and with less obstacles than they think. So I would be more than happy to have meaningful coaching conversations with you, at no cost to you of course, if that is something that would bring meaning and impact to your life.

I can also share recommendations and insights about places I've traveled to and lived in.
