About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Connections: with people, knowledge, culture, anything

ABOUT ME

Hello internet visitors! Writing public online profiles is always a bit awkward, because it's a one-way conversation, and who can get to know someone through a one-way conversation? I can't. Maybe you can, I guess if you're like one of those cops who stands behind the one-way mirror watching the interrogation, and after 5 minutes you just know he's guilty so you say something like "Fishy story, but I have a feeling this fish... is about to get caught" (cue to put shades on). But you're probably not that, so you'll have to do your best to get an impression of me from this one-way communication we've got going.

I guess I'd describe myself as an energetic dude who's always trying to explore new places, people, and music. I'm definitely an extrovert, and I'm always trying to meet people and make friends. In fact, I love humans so much that I don't really like being alone, which may prove to be a problem later in life but right now it's working wonders for my social life!

The first thing I do in any new city is acquire a bike, a backpack with some snacks, and go exploring.

Interests

So let's see... I'm energetic, I build websites, I ride my bike everywhere, I love ultimate frisbee, I like to and regularly do climb trees, I'm decent at chess, and the two most important things in life are my friends and music (in that order).

Music, Movies, and Books

I am totally obsessed with classical music but I SWEAR I'm not a snob. It's such a shame that such incredible music has been relegated to a rather-elitist culture. But anyways: BEETHOVEN, Mozart, Brahms, Schubert, Dvorak, Schumann, Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky, I could go on. But those first five are the really important ones and probably encompass a huge chunk of my entire musical life.

While coding I usually listen to electronic stuff like Woob, Aphex Twin, and Flying Lotus.

And then there's all of my favorite bands, which don't get too much playtime these days but they still hold dear spots in my soul: The Beatles, Radiohead, Os Mutantes, Tom Waits, XTC, The Beach Boys, Olivia Tremor Control, King Crimson, Frank Zappa.

Movies: 2001 A Space Oddesey, Fargo, American Psycho, Barry Lyndon, The Big Lebowski, Spring Breakers (if you liked this I wanna talk about it, what a trip), A Night at the Opera (Marx Bros)

TV: Mr. Show, The Office (British), That Mitchell and Webb Look, Chris Morris' Jam

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sleep outside without tents in Grand Teton national park in Wyoming, the stars we're so bright and plentiful that after 15 minutes I became way too aware of the fact that we are all flying on a tiny rock hurtling through space, and became genuinely scared I might fall off.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can talk to computers, and I'd love to show you how to throw a frisbee forehand. There's more than enough music to share as well!
