About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Become intimatelt acquainted with Latin America and myself. Final destination: Uruguay? $10/day
ABOUT ME
I’m a 25-year-old American currently in the process of traveling from California to Uruguay on a budget, but with absolutely no hurry or hangup on whether I actually arrive. I’m enjoying every step, taking in and appreciating life as it comes.
I am ex-military and have experience in minimalist camping as well as tent communities. Indeed, I camped in my hammock in parks and roadside tree lines for my first month in Mexico.
I speak English, Spanish, and Arabic, in that order, and in the past have worked in insurance, translation, interpretation, and military intelligence/linguistics, and teaching languages. I’m also quite proficient with a computer and have done some volunteer programming for Wikipedia. I’d be glad to teach you anything I know -- I’m an open book. I imagine that there are many other things that I could learn in exchange.
Some of my personal interests are reading, cultures, languages, philosophy, writing, traveling, nature,
hiking, and music.
I'm gay.
PHILOSOPHY
Be present. Respect everyone. Be non-judgmental. Trying to figure out the rest.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I always offer to pay back my hosts in some non-monetary way, by giving language lessons or helping out around the house. I don’t mind manual labor, painting, organizing, sweeping, mopping, or scrubbing toilets, among other things, one bit.
