Overview
About Me
I grew up poor, worked very hard to later become a corporate stooge, only to realize at age 30 that so much more happiness came when I finally quit my desk job. I started travelling in Latin America, with a 65L backpack and only a high school Spanish education. I have not regretted this decision once, and I have met so many amazing people and seen so many incredible places.
I love nature. Hiking, camping, waterfalls, beaches. I have learned to slow down, and have grown more and more to appreciate even the smallest details, colors of mushrooms, a small animal in the wild, the sounds at night sleeping in my hammock. I spend my time with an open mind and try to pass good vibes to everyone I come across. I am currently nearly fluent in Spanish, and I have started to learn German.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Normally while travelling internationally, I mostly spend time in Hostels in shared dorms, or camping in my hammock, but I have recently realized I should also branch out to Couchsurfing as another option. On top of that, in the U.S.A. hostels are not very prevalent, and thus I realize if I want to travel and explore my own country, I think that Couchsurfing is not only the perfect way to do that, but also to meet like-minded free spirits such as myself.
Music, Movies, and Books
I listen to many types of music. I grew up listening to hip-hop and classic rock, and have broadened through the years to pretty much anything except country music. I have been really enjoying learning many types of international music genres as I have travelled.
I love love love movies. I would estimate I watch on average a movie a day. I am always open to watch something if someone recommends it to me.
I do not read much, but I did recently read El Milagro de Mindfulness (or The MIracle of MIndfulness) in Spanish, a gift from my best friend in Mexico City. It teaches about living in the present, the imortance of breathing and meditation and being in control of your heart rate and stress levels. It is fantastic, plus it has strengthened my Spanish reading as well.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Found the courage to give up on the "American Dream" and create my own dream of seeing the entire world :)
What I Can Share with Hosts
An open mind, a ton of stories, great conversation, peace, love, buenas vibras. I've been known to share my personal belongings even when I have barely enough for myself. I believe very much in Karma.
