About Me

I work as a civil servant in DC but I live in Baltimore. I haven't used CS in years but I still have a warm spot in my heart for it and hope to use it again some day. I love big adventures but it's harder to get away these days...some highlights include the time I snuck in to Dracula's castle in Poenari, Romania and slept overnight, re-intering 500 year old Quecha bones from a burial ground on the farm I was working at in the Andes, and traveling over 2,500 miles by boat up the Amazon from Macapa, Brazil to Coca, Ecuador.

My favorite way to see the world is by bike (but boats are a close second), and there's really nothing I love more than getting lost in narrow city streets or trying to navigate an unfamiliar transit system.

I have a lot of hopes for the next couple of years--we'll see how they turn out. Biking in Nepal, the Mongol Rally, Tokyo 2020, and summiting Mt. Denali.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I used CS many times over the spring and summer in 2011. Since 2012 I have had the privilege of mostly serving as a host!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In 2011 I had quite a few fantastic experiences with CS, including...going to a video-game themed nightclub in Stockholm, sleeping on a houseboat in Copenhagen, staying at a beautiful and incredible house/community in San Marino, going to music festival in Athens, sitting at a cafe late at night on the Bosphorus in Istanbul talking with a really awesome guy, relaxing in Varna at the beach, hiking in Veliko Tarnovo and exploring abandoned monasteries and bunkers in Bucharest.

I've also had lots of great opportunities to play host in the US--students stopping over on their way home for breaks, a bunch of people for forth of July, a guy on his way to WWOOF on a farm...you name it!
