About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Explore the world. Make new friends.
ABOUT ME
I am respectful and clean person. I always try to consider how my actions effect other people. One thing I really love about Japan is that Japanese people seem to think along the same lines. Part of me feels very at home in this country and I think this is one of the reasons why.
I studied psychology in university and plan to go back for my masters (finally) once I leave Japan.
I am a sailing instructor. I have been sailing since I was quite young. A dream of mine is to live on board a sailboat full time and take it around the world!
I love food and wine and music and dancing and books and movies. A big part of travel, for me, is experiencing these things in a new culture.
Right now I am living in Kutchan doing a season snowboarding around Hokkaido. I travel a lot but this is the first time I have lived in one place in a foreign land. After the season ends up here I plan to travel south.
PHILOSOPHY
Travel teaches us many things. It teaches us about our selves, it teaches us about the world, and most importantly it teaches us about our home.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I would really like to get more involved but as it stands I have regretfully never had the honour of hosting a guest at my home. I do plan to once I settle a little.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Not a whole lot yet! I've been a member for years but it has never really panned out. Hope to change that this trip!

Music, Movies, and Books
My favourite music ranges from Classic Rock to Techno to Psytrance. Pink Floyd to Stephan Bodzin to Psykovsky. Everything in between as well. I basically love every genre of music. My philosophy is that if someone can enjoy it then it must be enjoyable; therefore I can enjoy it too if I open my mind.. this philosophy has served me well.
For movies I really enjoy dark comedy. Anything by the Coen Brothers. I like Quentin Tarantino. Somewhat in defiance of that, though, my favourite film has to be Forest Gump.
I enjoy fiction and non-fiction fairly equally. I love being on long train or plane trips as it gives me time to read! Favourite novels.. Dune, The Alchemist.. I enjoy Kafka, Stephen King, Haruki Murakam.. Favourite non-fiction is probably The Doors of Perception.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Travelling India for four months. This was the most incredible adventure. India left a deep impression on me; more so than anywhere else I have travelled. I think all those who have travelled there will understand what I mean. It amazed me at every turn.
Swam in the Ganges in Varanasi, India.
Got chased by wild elephants in Kumily, India.
Swam with a whale shark in Honduras.
Teach, Learn, Share
I could teach you how to sail if we can find a boat!
I would like to learn about the places I am visiting and the people who live there.
