ABOUT ME

I'm a fencer, as such I've been caught up in traveling for events more than traveling for fun, hoping to remedy that in the near future, especially as I explore international destinations.

PHILOSOPHY

Experience more and have less stuff!

I am basically out to have as much fun as I can while living conscientiously and helping others do the same, and sharing space and hospitality with like-minded folks is a great way to meet both of those goals.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am a fairly casual participant at the moment due to funding constraints on travel and roomie restraints on hosting. I'd like to live with people that were a bit more open to hosting, but it's not in the cards at the moment, so I just settle for hosting friends and other folks I've met previously.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Still new due to the above, but I've hosted and surfed at least once each, so I have a bit of an idea how it works. Hoping to increase that as I can.

Music, Movies, and Books

This hasn't been added to lately, but:

Books: A People's History of the United States. Siddhartha. Ender's Game. Lord of the Rings. Snow Crash. 1984. Recently a lot of awesome graphic novels: Sandman, Transmet, Y the Last Man, Thor, etc.

Movies: American Beauty. Fight Club. Pirates of the Carribean. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

TV: Dexter, Firefly, currently watching Farscape.

Music: Thursday. Decemberists, Mountain Goats, At the Drive-In, Our Lady Peace. Magnetic Fields.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I just flew down a fjord in Alaska and had a bird's-eye view of some spectacular terrain and glaciers there. Visiting Niagara Falls in the summer and getting soaked under it was also incredible.

Teach, Learn, Share

My primary skill is fencing, and since a lot of people haven't heard much about the sport I can often provide a lot of insight into a whole new discipline for most people. I've just gotten good enough to start being eligible for international competition, so I hope I know a little about what I'm talking about!
