About Me

CURRENT MISSION

As a teacher, I usually get to spend my summers exploring and traveling. This summer, I'm doing a grand tour of parts of Europe unknown to me, and I hope to meet friends along the way.

ABOUT ME

I am an adventurer. I live on fresh air and goat cheese. Wherever I travel, I have to go swimming in a natural body of water. I love riding trains across Europe, eating in new restaurants, and swimming in all kinds of water.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have a couch. Maybe you have one too?

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I got involved with CS by showing travelers around my home town of Santa Barbara, CA. When I went traveling in Europe for four months in 2009, I couchsurfed in France and Spain. Later, when I was living in Berlin, I hosted surfers and showed them around my favorite city. I would love to host more in the future, but my nomadic lifestyle has made that a challenge.

Interests

My interests are languages, linguistics, history, literature and cooking. I've also become a huge fanof the long, leisurely Spanish lunch (followed by a siesta, of course!).

Music, Movies, and Books

I love to read. Favorites lately have been Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When visiting my friend Rocco in Italy, we decided to leave Milan and go on a road trip through all of Tuscany. Rocco, his girlfriend, Francesca, and I ate our way through the pecorinos and gelatos (pecorini e gelati?) of Toscana. We sat in hot springs at midnight; watching the moon rise over that beautiful land.

On the hottest day of summer in Berlin, my best friend and I snuck into Teufelsberg, a former US government listening station with a huge radar dome on top. We climbed to the top, where every sound echoed and vibrated in our chests. There were people up there making music and grafitti covered the whole structure.
