About Me
Hello, there! こんにちは。
I'm Kyon.
I was an overseas sales for special machines for about 3 years after graduating university, but then I quit my job because I wanted to travel more and my work didn't allow me to take more than 5 days continuous holiday.
Since then I've been spending a few months to half a year in Europe every year traveling and Wwoofing. The rest I'm usually working as a salesperson at department stores in Japan to save some money to travel again.
Most of the countries I've visited are in Europe because I was in the UK for 2 years back in university time, and thought there's a lot more to see, try, and learn:) and also I felt it's safe ish for a solo female traveler. I think it's time to move onto other continents too though:)
For this year I'm spending some time in Germany and Romania.
I could be a little shy at first, but am very open-minded:)
I've been a member since 2009 but haven't been using it for so long!
I'm back here on this website because currently I'm floating around Europe and would love to know the people in the places I visit:)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Traveling is always more fun with someone who knows the area:)
I enjoy traveling like living.
I've been only hosted so far and met great hosts and had great experiences! :)
Interests
I like...
・TRAVELING : Been almost 40 countries so far, and more than 50 countries that I want to visit. Love traveling in Japan too.
・LANGUAGES : Not a fast leaner but interested in learning German, French, Romanian and Korean now.
・PHOTOGRAPHY : Want someone to teach me to take photos with 'stories'.
・HAND CRAFTS : I like making handmade earrings when I'm home. Also want to learn Aizome(indigo dye), leather shoe making, wooden spoons/plates/bowls, and so on and so on.
・JAPANESE FOOD : My favorite J food is Tamagokake gohan, Sashimi, Sukiyaki... and so many more:)
・LOCAL FOOD : My favorite foreign food is... to be honest fish and chips! Probably because UK is the first foreign country I lived for a long time and it reminds me of the time. But F&C in England is definitely 30 times better than any F&C I can find in Japan.
After all I believe anything 'local' is the best!
Another food I liked abroad is Polish fermented soup, Zurek, served in bread bowl in Wrocław
・BEER : I don't drink a lot, but I enjoy a glass of beer almost every night. My favorite beer is Luxembourgish organic beer Okrt and Japanese Yebisu, but there's far too many to compare! Again, the local beer is the best. I also like wine and sake (nihonsyu).

Music, Movies, and Books
MUSIC : Nothing in particular.. depends on my mood, maybe not Rock.
FILMS : As we have a saying in Japanese 'Fact is stranger than fiction.', I like watching documentary based films, but they often leave me some heavy feelings so I also like watching comedy or romance, or animations like Disney and Ghibli.
BOOKS : Again, true story based. As a Japanese I feel like I should try some books of Haruki Murakami but never done it yet.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hmm.. I don't know. Staying with a real self-sufficient family for several weeks taught me a lot including the whole process of making some variety of cheese:)
Oh, and eating grilled frog in Cambodia?
Teach, Learn, Share
TEACH : Japanese language, culture and food? Let's see.
LEARN : Anything I wrote above (My interests) and anything local:)
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm not a good story teller to be honest, but let's try!:D over a beer or wine if you like.
Or maybe cook together?
