ABOUT ME

I was born in a small town in Canada, but raised part time on a sailboat. Two trips abroad of one year each when I was a kid made of me an insatiable nomad. That's why I really like to travel and discover new cultures, different from my own one...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've couchsurfed a few times, in Belgium, Finland, Norway and Germany, which have always been nice. Now I'm looking forward to host!

Interessen

I really like outdoor activities like hiking mountains, surfing waves, sailing seas and exploring forests. I need to move when I can, so sports are a passion, especially those with water (liquid or frozen) like hockey, surfing and diving/snorkeling. Otherwise, I like music, but I'm not very talented at playing it, so I prefer listening!

Musik, Filme und Bücher

Good old rock classics like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Frank Zappa, the doors...
Some reggae like Peter Tosh, Bob Marley, Toots and the maytals.
Other stuff like Rabih Abou Khalil, Fela Kuti, Zakir Hussain, Ravi Shankar, Taraf de Haidouk, Manu Chao, Cesaria Evora, Django Reinhardt, Oscar Peterson, some old French speaking poets like Brassens, Brel, Ferré and more recently electro-swing like Parov Stellar, swing republic and caravan palace.
Some good movies could be City of God, The secret in their eyes, Spoorloos, American me, Lilja-4-ever, delivrance, un prophète and the batmans! Directors I like are Chris Nolan, Zhang Yimou, Emir Kusturica, the Coen brothers, Stanley Kubric, Clint Eastwood, Shane Meadows, Denis Villeneuve and Jean-Marc Vallee.

Books: Cormac McCarthy's The road. also enjoyed autobiographic authors from the beat generation like Kerouac and Bukovski, and french existentialists like Camus, Sartre and De Beauvoir.

Learning from the Ashaninkas in Peru, exploring the land and culture of Tana Toraja in Indonesia. Feeling really small in a sequoia forest in Yosemite. Waking up above clouds on sand dunes in the desert of Ica. Climbing Yasur volcano in Vanuatu in the middle of the night through gusts of wind of ash and rumbling ground
