ABOUT ME

This is always the hard part. I'm 35 and in the process of travelling and exploring. I'm open to new experiences and meeting new people. I grew up in Southern California but have lived on the East Coast since I was 18. I currently reside in Vermont. The most beautiful state in the US as far as I'm concerned. I left my home in May 2008 and traveled through Europe for 6 months, then to Argentina for 2 months in Summer 2009. I love art, literature, music of all kinds and dance.

PHILOSOPHY

I've told myself and my friends many times that the only thing I want in the last moment of this life is the knowledge that I have loved well and have been loved. Oh, and that I ate really good food and wine and laughed my ass off!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

In some ways, I'm new to this so right now my way of participating is that I'm open to participating. I am more than willing to host someone when I´m back in Vermont and share an experience with them in my (did I mention) beautiful state and I hope to be a welcomed and grateful guest in their home as well.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

While I was backpacking through Europe in the spring, summer and early fall of 2008, I couchsurfed with so many amazing people. I dont think I would have walked through sunflower fields in Southern France, made fig jam and napped in olive groves in Tuscany, hung out with a clown in Verona, or celebrated the "King of Falafel" Day in Berlin without the network that couchsurfing provided. Most importantly, I made friends. That's the coolest thing about couchsurfing.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

I love the literature, poetry and essays of James Baldwin. My favorite book by him is Another Country. I also love the essays of George Orwell and June Jordan. Favorite poets- Edna St.Vincent Millay, Pablo Neruda, Nikki Giovanni, Sonia Sanchez. Too many ficton writers to mention here. Love the writing of leftist thinkers-Zinn, Chomsky, and the like. Any music sung in sincerity and beauty moves my soul. But, no one moves me like Marvin Gaye. There are too many movies to mention here , but lets just say if one can make me laugh, think, cry, laugh a little more and walk away going "wow", I'm all in.

I've seen some beautiful things in this world--starry nights, amber sunsets, brillant sunrises, on and on and on, but the most amazing thing I've seen is pure joy in the eyes of someone I truly loved. Nothing is better than that...Well, a really great plate of pasta and a couple of glasses of wine is a close second.

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

I have a collection of life experiences to share...some of them are funny, a few of them are wise and most of them are really embarrassing. I have also had a pretty successful marriage with my first love the English language for the last 33 years and would love to share with anyone interested. I've also had a pretty passionate affair with my second love, Spanish for about 12 years now. Though, we don´t really understand each other. I would love to bring the two together for an intercambio with anyone who's up for it. I am a student of life, so anyone with a desire to share, teach and learn is welcome.
