Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I plan to host and be hosted - but I'm still new to this!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have a rule where I travel somewhere new every month so I plan to do a lot more surfing in the future. I have couch surfed in Brooklyn most recently and love the chance to meet new people in my travels.

Interests

I'm a vegan and I obsess about food. I'm drawn to open markets, bike riding, small closet-like streets, dancing, old dusty book stores and yoga.

When I travel I really like to get to know a place - feel like a local while I'm there. I don't like to rush around and see everything there is to see. When I get to a new place I always tell myself - If you love this place you will be back, so don't sweat trying to see everything this time, save things for next time.

Music, Movies, and Books

I collect antique children's books. I love the Martian Chronicles, Fahrenheit 451, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, and Hard Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The first time I traveled alone from Spain to France was a pretty life changing experience for me. I spent two nights in Barcelona. On my last night I went to a vegan burger place in this back alley and met an old Catalonian man who happened to have learned French as a child. We quickly became companions for the evening and moved from bar to bar that night trying different local specialties. He took me to the oldest landmark in the city and then we found some discarded figurine molds and each kept one as a keepsake. At the end of the night in the last bar he drew a sketch of me and told me to call him if I ever returned and thanked me for reminding him of his childhood and helping him remember his French.
Another very fond memory I have is of a trip to Italy I took with friends. I remember waking up every morning to our blood orange juice and going back several nights in a row to Il Vegetariano for dinner. Florence is such a relaxing but at the same time gorgeous city. Our last night we climbed the hill to watch the sunset over Ponte Vechio.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'll teach you English! It's my job but I also have a penchant for vegan cooking and baking that I love to share as well as a background in photography and yoga.
