About Me
Hi There!
I am a twenty year old Kiwi on my big adventure around the world! I was born and raised in a beautiful small town at the top of New Zealand's South Island and am keen to see if there is anywhere which can rival the scenery I was raised to appreciate.
I have great interest in meeting people and hearing what they have done and how they operate. You'll find me easy going and up for laugh! (I mostly laugh at myself).
I was born into the outdoors and spent my youth trekking throughout New Zealand's back country, through rivers, over mountains and exploring by kayak or boat. I've packed quite a bit into my short life!
The past few years I have spent in the New Zealand Navy and with that comes a few stories and fond memories.
I look forward to exchanging tall tales with whoever is kind enough to welcome me into their home.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am couchsurfing as a way of meeting the locals in the various towns and cities I plan to visit. I am a firm believer that the people make the place and am therefore interested in getting to know the locals.
I have often given travellers who I have picked up hitchhiking or met around the place advice as to where the best places are to visit. I am not a fan of big tourist hotspots so getting the local take on what is worth seeing is like gold to me!
Music, Movies, and Books
Big fan of some of the music that was produced locally in New Zealand (if you're keen to hear some I'll happily play it). I am now getting into books that discuss philosophical ideas, I really like C.S Lewis! I wouldn't be a kiwi if I didn't like Lord Of The Rings, I even have friend who works for Peter Jackson!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have learnt to navigate by the stars. I once did a passage from Brisbane to New Caledonia using the stars as my guide.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd love to hear what you do for work or study! I really like to listen to peoples passions and what they are enthusiastic about. I'm not sure if I can teach anybody much, unless you want to know a little bit about New Zealand.
What I Can Share with Hosts
A bottle of wine! I'll be more than happy to bring a bottle of wine and cook dinner for my hosts... I cannot profess to be a good cook, but simple meals I can deal with.
