I recently quit my job after 15 years as a Senior Certified Property Appraiser (aka workaholic) and I am now officially on a Gap year/ Travel adventure! My gf’s are calling it my “EPL” year [Eat,Pray,Love] lol :) Naturally I had to rent the movie... Julia & I definitely have a few similarities.

More about me: I have a twin brother, niece and nephew, two Siberian cats (my Aunty is watching my girls while I am away), play soccer (football), love to hike, play tennis, read, listen to music and I’m a total foodie!! There’s almost nothing I wouldn’t try at least once. I have a Type A personality which means I am dependable and like to plan, clean, organize and get things done. I’m social and outgoing. When at home I’m often called to house sit-pet sit-babysit. I'm always on the go! Oh and I love furbabies. Bigger the better :) I have multiple references re: from co-workers, petsitters and friends as well as a recent criminal record check. Lol... Yes.. like I said total Type A... ticking all the boxes. I’d love to host but recently gave up my rental in my hometown. Will host in the future.

My workmate told me about it. I will be travelling to meet up with friends and on my own at times. Best way to see a town, village or city is by a local. I truly enjoy meeting new people. Since I will be on the move A LOT, with no pay check while I am on this whirlwind adventure, my plan is to keep costs down by staying with locals from time to time.

Movies: Me Before You; Meet Joe Black; Brave Heart; The Net; Pretty Woman; The Pelican Brief. I’m a sucker for romantic comedies. And of course Shawshank Redemption. My ultimate favourite movie line:
“... some birds aren’t meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright”. This movie quote by Red speaks to me on so many levels.

Books: The Persimmon Tree, Island Beneath the Sea, Honolulu, A Mad Wicked Folly. I enjoy Historical Fiction.

1. Parasailed in New Zealand 🇳🇿
2. Ate crickets 🦗 ~ I laugh because they’re quite delicious and a good source of protein 😁👌
3. Stood on the cliff at Lions Head 😳
4. Went on a safari in Kruger National Park & fed zebras 🦓 by hand on my patio
5.I purchased School supplies & 🏀 ⚽️ balls and handed them out to children in Madagascar 🇲🇬. By far the most rewarding experience!
6. Swam with sea turtles in the Indian Ocean
7. Quit my $95,000/year job to travel the world 🌍
