CURRENT MISSION
To experience the amazing.
ABOUT ME
My name's Helen - I'm open-minded and a little bit excitable! I discovered independent travelling when I was 19 and over the years have tried to visit as many places as possible (I'm currently on a count of 28 countries, waaaay behind most people!). I work full time in Manchester, UK. I love my city but I live for escaping it and finding adventures, wherever they may be!
I love making the most of life, seeking out new experiences, trying new things, and feeling like I'm really living. I love socialising, chatting to new people, dancing like a fool, and being a bit of a girl. People notice my cheerfulness and optimism straight away - apparently it's written all over my face (must be the dimples!). Beneath the bubbly exterior, I'm a deep thinker, I'm sensitive, hard working, passionate and ambitious.
Things you should know:
I eat mashed potato on its own for dinner sometimes
I have an unusually high percentage of friends called Helen (6)
I can put on Lily Allen's voice (recently discovered)
On nights out in Manchester, I nearly always have (and win!) a dance-off
I have an interesting theory on house spiders
My Brother's in a signed indie band (not-so-subtle plug for Blitz Kids)
I have Will Young's album. And Mika's.
PHILOSOPHY
We only get one life - 'Fizz' it! (I.e. make it exciting!)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm new to couchsurfing, and am available to show people around my amazing city. I've surfed in Northern Ireland, Sweden and Norway so far.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've always been interested in travelling, experiencing new cultures and meeting new people - over the years I've done more and more independent travel, but recently a friend introduced me to couch surfing - it's a revelation! My first couchsurfing experience was in Northern Ireland, with a friend. It was amazing - we stayed in a shared house, received a top notch evening meal and breakfast and a tour of the local pubs and bars. I'm looking forward to many more couch surfs to come!
Interests
Experiencing the unusual, helping people every day in my job, spending time with people I love, dancing like a loony, musing, dreaming, smiling.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love thought-provoking books and films, post-modern literature, and the odd rom-com/chick lit. I'm addicted to the book 'Weather to Travel' (you should buy it, honestly).
My taste in music has been described as the following:
Varied
Interesting
Embarrassing
Cheesy
Pop-tastic
Happy/bubbly
Awful.
However, I also love indie and rock bands, listening to new music and seeing new bands.
But mainly, my taste in music is generally viewed as horrendous, that's just something you might need to put up with, sorry!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have to give a very recent example - hitchhiking for the first time and experiencing the kindness, grace and humility of the human race (deep, hey?!)
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm studying for a lifecoaching qualification - I have lots of exercises and techniques to help people find their passion!
I can read music, and trained as a dancer for 10 years, I would love to show you some moves, or have a jamming session (piano/trumpet must be supplied!)
