About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Explore what life has to offer and what I want from it :)

ABOUT ME

Hi fellow couch surfer,
Here are a few random facts about me:

* Water is the main theme of my life - my study is about water; I grew up on a boat; my biggest passion is sailing and I love other activities in and around water like diving, swimming and ice skating.

* I like to get a lot of things done in one day, but I'm also overly enthausiastic about many things. This sometimes causes an overload of topics on my to-do list.

* I like most seasons of the year, but my favourites are spring and autumn. I especially love spring, with the first rays of warm sunlight, explosions of light green, yellow and white leaves and flowers, lengthening of the daylight and when everything seems to come alive again.

That's it for now, I'll add more later.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I hope that through couchsurfing or hosting I can meet new people and expand my network. Everyone has a life story which is interesting for others to listen to, even though you might not think so yourself.

For now I am slowly building my profile. I hope that people will start to send requests.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have not surfed yet or hosted anyone, but I am looking forward to experience it.

Interests

sailing (especially 16th/17th century replicas, tallships and Dutch "Bruine vloot"), reading, travelling, photography, and much more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

No doubt the most amazing moments of my life have occured while sailing on (replicas of historical) ships: sailing into Rotterdam harbour by night on the little Duyfken; sailing around Manhattan on the Half Moon; teaching kids how to sail with the awesome crew on STS Leeuwin II; sailing out to the reef on a little yacht in Australia; furling sails in windforce 7 Bft on the Russian Shtandart. Listing the best things I have experienced in my life that did not involve ships is less easy. Right now I can only think of my recent accomplishment of finishing my Bachelor thesis.
