Music, Movies, and Books

I'm into all genres of music and movies and love watching or listening to new stuff. I don't have TV but I do have Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBO GO and Spotify so there is no end to the amount of media you can enjoy here.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lots of things come to mind here but I'll stick with something related to the idea of couch surfing. It's the first moment I realized 'off the path' travel was the best way to do things. I was young and somewhat unwise but those can be the best times for the amazing to happen. My girlfriend and I while visiting Jamaica had chosen to pay for a 'tour of the local sites' in order to really get to see the country we had come to visit. Sadly our tour of the local sites was anything but local... nothing as far as the eye could see except overpriced t-shirt vendors or tiny cheap souvenir shops sporting local flare. We were saddened and in that moment both decided we would head for the gate, ditch our tour group and just walk left down the street. It wasn't long before we came to a family on their porch who welcomed us to sit with them. We ended up spending all day and night on their porch getting to know them and being fed lots of traditional food. More than a decade later I'm still friends with that family and visit them whenever I'm down in Jamaica.
