Traveling has been a passion of mine for as long as I can think. As has been writing. One of my regrets is that I never pursued a career as a travel writer. Oh, well. Now that I have settled in Cologne and have a son who lives with me part-time, my interests have shifted a little bit...

I read a lot (I am a writer, so that is no surprise). I love going to the cinema and listening to Mark Kermode's film review on the BBC. Sports are always good, especially playing soccer although I do not really like watching it. Being outdoors, hiking and urban walking are great, too.
I have always loved traveling and have been to over 40 countries (only listed some of them at the bottom of this page). I try to visit new places whenever I get a chance. Hosting on Couchsurfing seems to come very close to the traveling experience. I am looking forward to meeting you!

My list of favorite books is ever evolving. If you would push me I would probably list "Shantaram", "Meetings with Remarkable Men" and anything by Lawrence Durrell. I tried to come up with a top ten list for my favorite movies once but had to give up. There are directors I adore: Christopher Nolan, Francis Ford Coppola, Neil Jordan, Stanley Kubrick are among them. I also love Netflix. My favorites TV series at the moment: The Mindy Project, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Modern Family, Curb your enthusiasm, House of Cards and Ray Donovan.

Hm, that's a good question. I guess the first thing that comes to mind is my move to the United States (New York) without ever having been there before. I ended up living there for more than eight years... Ah, and the fact that I have not given up on meditation.
