About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Hi couchsurfers!

I'm Roberta, I'm from Italy, I lived in Grenoble (France) for 12 years and since 2022 I moved to beautiful Marseille !

On December 2018 I crossed the Ocean to travel around South America : Brasil, Argentina, Patagonia, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia... !

I met people from all around the world on my way, and now I'm back home and I want to help other travellers to make their dreams true !

Actually I plan to travel by bike or with my tiny van.

ABOUT ME

I was born 37 years ago in the beautiful Sicily. At 21 I moved in France by Erasmus program and then I continued my studies there...and then I got a job so I definitively decided to stay !

I'm a very eclectic person, with a lot of different interests.
I can dance tango and I also play music with my friends of the Ukulele Club of Café Bayard !
I like all the forms of art, because I believe in their power of making people more free, tolerant and happy.

I decided to travel for a long time just because I always want it, since I remember. When I was a child I wanted to be a journalist because I'd like to take news from all around the world and see all these far away countries. Nothing had changed ;p

I'm a quite good cooker, not perfect-but very expressive singer, and I love to say stuff I can't understand in new languages.

PHILOSOPHY

Don't panic and know where your towel is.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is for me the expression of the human solidarity and generosity. By couchsurfing you can open your house, your mind and your heart to another human. That's the amazing thing !

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Overall I participate trusting humanity :)

I host and I travel by couchsurfing everytime and everywhere is possible !
I always talk about couchsurfing to my friends and acquaintances, and I always find new followers!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm not new on coach surfing! I couch surfed all around Europe, in Bruxelles, Hannover, Berlin... I also hosted in Nice, Grenoble, Marseille and in Sicily. I have a lot of friend who couchsurf. My first solo trip was around european capitals, and I was couchsurfing all along. The experience was so satisfying, that I continued to couchsurfer after that. I also was on "warmshower" who is like couchsurfing but only for bikers, because I traveled by bike twice.

Interests

I love to go to the theater, cinema, museums, hexibition...
I have a big passion for books, I read as I breathe, not too much but constantly and with passion for discovery.
Like all the other Italian people, I give a lot of importance to my nutrition and I love to cook.
In this last years I start to spent a really nice time with my bike, and I improve myself in bicycling.
I'm also interested in scientifical and philosophicals problems.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love movies...I love italian's films because of my culture, but I'm very open minded on cinema! I like to discover many different kind of movies and directors.

Federico Fellini, Pierpaolo Pasolini, Michelangelo Antonioni, Sergio Leone, Nanni Moretti,
Andreji Tarkovskij, Dziga Vertov
Pedro Almodovar,
Truffaut
Paul Thomas Andersen, Wes Andersen, Woody Allen, Terry Gilliam,
Ingmar Bergman, Lars Von Trier...

I love books too and I read every evening before sleeping...so I read a lot of books in my life, and I love to talk about it.
I love science-fiction (recently I really appreciated Alain Damasio "La Horde du contrevent") and some fantasy books. My favourite authors are Virginia Woolf and Italo Calvino.

I like music a lot, I like to go to concerts or listen to the radio. I love to sing on my bike.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I saw the whales in Ecuador. I hang-glided on Rio De Janeiro and para-glided on Grenoble.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can speak italian, french, english and spanish, so we can easily have some language exchanges.
I can teach a little bit of ukulele and I'd love to dance in milongas if you're a tango dancer.
I'm always in to share recipes, laughs and ideas !
