About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to figure out

ABOUT ME

I like coziness a lot: like reading by the fireplace, good coffee with lots of milk, cinnamon, whipped cream and ginger, charming cafes. I also like to cook and bake and I suppose I'm some kind of (third-wave)feminist housewife, but I'm also pretty ambitious and college-perfectionist. I'm in constant pursuit for new atmospheres: that's why I like to travel. I prefer visiting cities and I'm not so much into nature (but, of course, there are some exceptions - for example, Icelandic nature and Grand Canyon).
Sometimes I prefer reliability and stability, but every few weeks / months I have a strong need to try something new.
I like rainbow clothes, hippie style, cosy pullovers, purple, blueish and brownish colors, rain, soft light, big cities, owls, cats, bookshops with used books (Shakespeare & Company in Paris is top), bohemian illusion.
but I also hate when people think they're special: "we all want to be different, which makes us all the same".
I'm passionate traveler and I prefer to travel alone or be pretty independent while travelling. I like the feeling of complete freedom. But good company from time to time is always welcome. My favourite visited destinations until now are San Francisco, Amsterdam, Belgrade, Reykjavik and Berlin. I would like to visit Tokyo, New York, Moscow, Beirut, Stockholm, Kopenhagen...
I love eclecticism, collecting all kinds of images and words.
I'm also big fan of Andy Warhol's philosophy :)

PHILOSOPHY

difficult one: but, on the bright side, I would definitely include curiosity, passionate approach to whatever you chose to do, a lot of travelling, different people, widening horizons: all that mixed with a good amount of sarcasm and paradoxes. I don't believe in simplicity of life, like Paris Geller from Gilmore Girls nicely verbalized it: "How do I know what your barometer for being 'pretty happy' is? Are you one of those people who gets 'pretty happy' looking at a sunset?"
So I would say that I tend to be cynical woodyallenish optimist:
"There's an old joke - um... two elderly women are at a Catskill mountain resort, and one of 'em says, "Boy, the food at this place is really terrible." The other one says, "Yeah, I know; and such small portions." Well, that's essentially how I feel about life - full of loneliness, and misery, and suffering, and unhappiness, and it's all over much too quickly."

Music, Movies, and Books

MOLLY NILSSON, Keren Ann, The Doors, Pink Floyd, Mamas & Papas, The Beach Boys, The National, Interpol, Chinawoman, Kings of Convenience, Arcade Fire, Calexico, Bright Eyes, Agnes Obel, Soley, Explosions in the Sky, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald... I like catchy music, but the words are also really important to me (sometimes it results with paradox). I'm also fan of popular music (like Britney, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Marina & the Diamonds, Lana del Rey) and my friends often make fun of me because of that, but I proudly stick to it(you can check my last.fm profile for more information: http://www.last.fm/user/Leia-)Movies: Annie Hall, Lost in Translation, Vicky Christina Barcelona, When Harry met Sally, Amelie, Donnie Darko, Love Actually, romantic comedies with Hugh Grant, Fight Club, Easy A, Die Ehe der Maria Braun, Thelma & Louise, Weekend, Revolutionary Road, Last Picture Show, Fahrenheit 451, Mary Poppins...(I have list for that too :) http://www.imdb.com/mymovies/list?l=49097901)Writers & books: Tolstoy, Borges, Hesse, Calvino, Isabel Allende, Jonathan Franzen's Freedom, Rilke's Malte Laurids Brigge, Miranda July: No one belongs here more than you, J.D. Salinger...My favorite writer is Milan Kundera. I enjoy reading crime fiction, especially Agatha Christie, P.D. James and Scandinavian crime fiction (Nesbo, Mankell, Fossum). I also read much popular fiction (Twilight Saga, Harry Potter, Hunger Games) and chick-lit: that interests me professionally (especially popular culture).(http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/4403186-lea)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

road trip from San Francisco to Grand Canyon and Death Valleydriving (I was the driver ^^) through desert that takes hours and hours + Pulp Fiction soundtrack, The Doors, Bob Dylan and American radiostations really good panamerican experience to lose yourself (or to find yourself, depends on your perception :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you Croatian and some art history / literature stuff. I'm very clumsy when it comes to crafts of any type, but I really like DIY (do-it-yourself) clothes, jewelry and other things so I'm trying to learn something (at the moments, sewing) so that I'll be able to make bags in shape of animals (I have owl bag that inspired me to do that :D)
