About Me

Hello Couchsurfers! My name is Lailah & my husband's name is Mike. We are both adventurous, easy- going, kind people with a passion for traveling to new places and meeting others from all different walks of life. Together, we've toured throughout the United states and some of Canada, living on the road for months at a time. This is both of our first times in Europe (except I did live in Scotland for a short time) so we are both just filled with excitement and curiosity for what is to come during our 24 days exploring the beautiful places and people across this incredible continent!

A little about me (Lailah): I am 26. I grew up in Kentucky, USA. I've lived in Scotland with my aunt and uncle and I've also live in Saudi Arabia for a short time because that is where half of my family lives. I am a very open minded and caring person. I am an artist. I paint and create art for a living . I love exploring new places and making friends!

Mike: He is from South Florida and has traveled to almost every state in America. He is very outgoing, funny, and is always bringing smiles to everyones faces. He will be coming with a guitar and (if you want him to) he is happy to serenade you with some music. He has been a full time singer-songwriter/ traveling musician for many years and has opened for bands such as Steve Miller Band, Portugal, the Man, the Alabama Shakes, Train, and Zack Deputy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As we travel through Europe we hope to make meaningful friendships along the way. We have no Itinerary, just a list full of potential destinations we wish to explore. We want the freedom to make friends and decide to go somewhere on a whim, so we will have a car. I think couchsurfing will allow us to meet and stay with people who we would otherwise never meet. Also, what better way to experience a new city or town than with the locals who call it home.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to a variety of music.. to name a small small few artist who inspire me: Bjork, SZA, J. Cole, Anderson Paak, Nina Simone, Gal Costa, The Velvet Underground, Beck, Jeff Buckley, Dirty Projectors, Animal Collective, The Beatles.. the list could go on forever. I am very passionate about music, it is no wonder I married a musician. ;-P
Books, I love Carlos Castaneda's books. Also, I am a fan of H.P Lovecraft, Rumi, Anne Rice, Ayn Rand, and I have very recently began reading Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace.
A few of my favorite movies include : Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Waking Life, Forrest Gump ( I know, so typical), Kill Bill vol. I & II, anything Wes Anderson, (ehem, Aladin...) and I've also always really loved Dario Aregento films because of it's cheesy dramaticism.
