About Me
April 2017:
The next few months will be busy at home with my roommate coming back from a long trip and preparing to move away, and then my partner moving in and the baby coming. I'd love to make space for a few guests this spring and summer, so feel free to send in a request, but please keep in mind there's a higher-than-usual chance that I'll answer you that it's not a good time!
Also, please take the time to fill in your profile before writing to me, and let me know in your couchrequest why you want to stay with me in particular. I don't usually accept stays from people with generic couchrequests or empty / undevelopped profiles.
I like zines, libraries, revolt and anything pertaining to these themes. I'm a library technician by trade. I also like trees a lot - you should know, I tend to talk about trees a lot. Love to hear parenting, pregnancy and baby stories right now!
I also work full-time at a community college as well as try to take the time to care properly for myself and for loved ones.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have used this website extensively when I was a bit younger and I was travelling a lot, and have hosted people since, mostly when I was living in Verdun. Couchsurfing, not unlike hitchhiking, is a great way to get to know people you would never have met otherwise, and it makes travelling less lonely.
Interests
I may have mentioned already that I love zines. I love to make them, read them, collect them, recommend and lend them to people. My main intellectual interests revolve around biology (mainly trees, mushrooms and brains), social movements and science fiction, but I almost always enjoy hearing people talk about things that they are passionate about.
Reading and writing are pretty central to my life. I also enjoy playing cards and strategy board games, drinking tea, baking cookies and walking by the river. I'm learning to play bridge, are you a bridge player? We're teaching ourselves to play, your experience would be welcome!
Lately I've been focusing on myself more than I used to, but it's really important for me to take care of the people I love and try to make my community a more welcoming, supportive and interesting place.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm very bad with movies but I enjoy TV series. I'm totally obsessed with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and Bones right now. I'm also a big fan of Fringe and Grande Ourse, a really weird fantastic serie from Quebec.
Music: mostly classic progressive rock and different kinds of folk music. My favorite artists include Rae Spoon, Avec pas d'casque, Gilles Vigneault and Richard Desjardins.
Favorite fiction authors: I read mainly fantasy and sci-fi. Did you know that Quebec had a very interesting and distinctive science-fiction litterature? My number 1 literary obsession is Elisabeth Vonarburg. I also have big crushes on Eric Gauthier, Emile Zola, Barbara Kingsolver and Guy Gavriel Kay. And Tolkien, but that goes without saying.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Being pregnant is pretty amazing (thought annoying at times). But I think the thing I'm the most proud of is to have published a zine about my anxiety.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can show you some good baking recipes, and teach some other (mostly vegetarian) cooking skills - as long as my wrists are in order and you don't need anything to be done fast. I'd also be happy to tell about hitchhiking, especially for women, and about zine-making.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Same as above, plus I'll cook good things for you, and I'll bring all my good guest skills.
