COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Other Peace Corps Volunteers have had couch surfers. I've met them. They were cool people. Being a PCV also makes you a couch surfer. I've slept on practically anything and been able to hang a mosquito net from practically anything as well. I like it when we get a bunch of people over and cook. It even comes complete with brownies made over a charcoal fire.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to a soccer game in Bahia, Brazil. One of the most intense events ever. This stadium was primarily made out of solid concrete, but when the crowd cheered and jumped around, the stadium shook. Each section of the stadium had a "cheerleader" of sorts. Cheering alone was a life or death situation. If you weren't serious about it, you needed to get out of there. Best game ever.

In Uganda I rode in a matatu (taxi) from Karuma Falls to Gulu. The ride started out normal enough. At the first stop, not even 15 minutes into our journey, the taxi pulls over to pick up a load of live chickens. This taxi was already full. We had the "legal" limit of 14 passengers. Despite this limit, the conductor proceeded to fill the taxi with live chickens. Under the seat, in between our legs, in the very tiny aisle...Then he piled a load on the roof. There were so many chickens they even hung over the sides and the back of the matatu. I rode all the way to Gulu in a newly transformed chicken truck. Awesome.
