Über mich

CURRENT MISSION

To keep meeting new people and sharing new experiences. And enjoy life in the process.

ABOUT ME

My friends say I'm a searcher and I'm lucky to travel so much. I say I'm not lucky, I'm opportunistic. I try to live my life the way I want to, not the way society dictates it should be. My friends would also say I'm funny, insightful and annoying, which is all true :-)

PHILOSOPHY

To me, life is about people and experiences. The people we meet and the experiences we have - both positive and negative - all make us who we are. I also believe the difference between an inconvenience and an experience is only your attitude. My favourite quote is buy JRR Tolkein: 'Not all those who wander are lost...'

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've lived in different countries and travelled to a lot of different places, and the one thing which always remains with you is the people you meet. So I'm on CS to find different people to hang out with, to host, to be hosted by and generally to share cool experiences with. I've done the hostel thing a lot, but staying with a local person and getting that real local experience of a country is a lot more rewarding in my opinion.

In Australia I'm always looking for people to join me on road trips to Yalingup, Esperance, Kalbarri, Exmouth etc. We take our boat over to Rottnest Island a lot as well so couch surfers are welcome to jump onboard. I have a nice chilled out house not far from the beach in Perth and we like having different people hang out at our place. I have a real appreciation for nature and wildlife so I like to give traveller's that experience as well. I get a lot of free time, what better way to use it than meeting cool crew from all over the world!

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Machupiccu on the Inca trail in Peru. After 3 days of trekking we arrived at the Sun Gate and it was covered in cloud and you couldn't see a thing. Our guide pointed down in the distance at where it should have been. We put our cameras away and were about to start walking down when all of a sudden the clouds parted and revealed the lost Inca city. Amazing.
Surfing a remote spot in Brazil. I had only read about it on the internet and didn't know if it actually existed, so I paddled out to the middle of the ocean by myself and found it. Surfed it for 3 hours all alone, got cut to shreds on the reef, and then got a lift back to shore by a passing fishing boat. Best surf of my life.
Others that stand out: being attacked by a rhino in Nepal, being interrogated by security in Israel, the German guy I met who was walking across Asia with a didgeridoo, the Priest who helped me in Jerusalem, the locals who gave me a lift and fed me in Bolivia, hearing the Dalai Lama teach for 3 days in India...

Lehren, lernen, teilen

I can teach you about Aboriginal people, to play guitar, take you surfing or bodyboarding, share a lot of travel stories and take you out to cool places in Perth. I can offer road trips and if you like being on the water take you on our boat. And we always welcome people to hang at our place near Cottesloe.

You can teach me whatever you like. I am open to other people's philosophies. And anyone who cooks for me gets a huge thumbs up. And help me practice Spanish and German!
