About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see the whole world before I die... of at least meet a lot of its inhabitants

ABOUT ME

I was born into a show business family in Las Vegas, Nevada. My father was a bass player with Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, Etta James... the list goes on. I moved to Chicago, where my parents grew up, at age 10. My upbringing was eclectic and Bohemian. I was close to my B.A. when I was presented with an opportunity to travel and work in Europe at age 20. I jumped at the chance and never looked back. I'm a published writer currently working on my first book (Black Cat Press).

PHILOSOPHY

I live each day like it could be my last. I appreciate life and love meeting new people. I like to take proverbial leaps into the unknown. Life is a gift I cherish, no matter the circumstance. I learn from every experience and am always looking for like-minded cohorts to share this with.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now I am looking for places to stay for a day or two to a couple of weeks or longer, depending on how things go. I've had a lot of hardship in my life over the last few years and am looking to travel and work, meet new people and have new experiences.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have couchsurfed quite a lot over the last two years. I've made some very close friends from staying with aquaintances kind enough to let me into their homes.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most amazing experiences I've had was going to Burning Man for the first time with a fan of my writing who contacted me and invited me to go with him. He gifted me the whole trip. I went out there with an open mind and an open heart, camping (for the very first time in my life - talk about trial by fire!) for a week in the middle of the Black Rock desert with someone who was essentially a total stranger (other than frequent internet correspondence). He has turned out to be a very close friend of mine as a result, and the experience changed the course of my life. It had a deeply profound effect on me.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a published writer of all styles - from non-fiction to fiction to corporate. I know how to pitch articles successfully to magazines and newspapers, and would be willing to share that knowledge. I've been on the Organizing Committee for the Chicgao Underground Film Festival since year one - now in its 14th year. I'm also a designer, from conceptual pre-production to down and dirty crew work - I'm skilled in stagecraft and upholstery, as well as sewing. I love power tools! :D Willing to teach and learn and work, if the need is there.
