About Me

damn im totally done with couchsurfing. im getting requests from people who want to PAY me for a tour or something. as far as i am concerned, that is not what couchsurfing is about.
if you are really one of those tourists who want to spend their money, well i am broke as hell, so get me a bag of weed and i'll teach you how to roll the prettiest joint in Amsterdam. there ends my tourist offer. :P
NB: please don't send me messages several weeks/months in advance, I barely know what I'm doing next week. If you like making reservations, I suggest you find a hostel. :P

also:
-single guys with sunglasses on, no info on their profile, no info in their request, but with the strong desire to stay at my place: NO. fuck off. why are there so many of you
-guys pm'ing me with what they think is smooth talk, like 'chicka', 'wsup girl ;)' or 'can i buy you a drink ;)' better be very obviously ironic. otherwise i don't know what you're trying to achieve.
-people who are only on couchsurfing not because it's a fun way to travel but because they wanted to save the hostel money for booze and Amsterdam themed fridge magnets: NO.
-people who only want to come stay cause they think squats are mainly places where you can get boozed or drugged up and act like a baboon: NO.
well then, i think that's enough for me to never recieve a couchsurfing message again. phew.

This is my old as fuck profile, edited to keep the name and place up to date. :)
CURRENT MISSION
to find out what exactly my mission should be

I'm a twenty-six year old scruffy girl from Amsterdam who lives in Zaandam now, in a squat (close to Amsterdam). That means surfing with me may mean abandoning some luxury, depending on what you're used to.
For work, I illustrate and draw comics. :) I know, I didn't think it could be a real job either.

I'm distinctly more intelligent when I'm traveling, because I don't smoke joints like I do at home. I read comics with no heroes in them. If you come in the week that my bike hasn't been stolen yet, I'll let you borrow it.

I respond badly to authority, sexism, and people who won't stop quoting south park.

I gotta warn you for the big-ass anti-tourist rant that's coming up further down this page. I wrote it several years ago, but I still don't really disagree with my former self, and I think it's a good filter. :P

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I get like 293258 requests a day. I get it, we're in Amsterdam. I hope you will still believe I'm a nice person after I say the following: I'm not going to reply to all requests. Especially if you're just youngsters wanting to spend mama's money in the coffeeshop, "watch the whores" and see the Heineken Experience (ps don't do it). Especially if you do not supply a proper reason you picked me to write to. Especially if you want me to show you the clubs. I don't do clubbing, I will not show you clubs, I will not be impressed by the clubs, if you want to go clubbing I'm not the one you should be writing. In other words: you think you wanted to go to Amsterdam, but it's not like that. Amsterdam wanted you to come, and it knew you would bring your money. And you do, by the fuckload. So I will take travelers, but not tourists. And for gods sakes if you are a tourist, walk at a normal pace and leave some space on the pavement! :P

Edit: Shit! each day I get these requests from people that make me wonder whyyyy they picked meeee to write to. If you send me a request you better be damn sure you understand what you're getting into; an anticapitalist atmosphere, not appreciative of sexism, and we are not impressed by your fancy job. I can't show you shops, but dumpsters. And our house is not a damn hostel and your stupid copy-paste couch requests piss me the fuck off, you bunch of impersonal shits.

IN CASE YOU JUST NEED A CHEAP PLACE TO SLEEP

I took the liberty of listing the cheapest hostels around here, not because I don't like you but because I know Amsterdam's a popular location and in summer the couches tend to fill up fast. OK, and because I often get messages from people who I think don't actually have any interest in couchsurfing, just in saving money on accommodation. Hope this helps, kids...:

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Friends dumped their couchies on me at my old place, I got into couchsurfing. Hosted a lot of travelers since. Seen a variety of couches myself, and since I live with a handful of people, they also keep dragging in travelers.

Interests

Comics, parties, sturdy shoes, milk, the sky, when mud is warm and you stand in it barefoot and the warm mud wells up between your toes, pigeons, ink, singing loudly by a gas station, fernet con cola, last minute planning EVERYTHING.

The conviction that in a world where everything is controlled, groomed and sorted, the only thing left that's real is dirt.

Music, Movies, and Books

nobody has to give me gifts but it would be nice if you had the chance to bring me an underground comic/ zine from wherever you're from. :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I saw a fly eat a spider. Both of them were really big and the fly was dragging the spider up a wall.

(I've actually seen many amazing things. In nature, in society, between the cracks of abandoned architecture... but my memory is horrible. I guess it's the smoking. I apparently came across the Dalai Lama while traveling last year, and I honestly do not remember.)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Depends on what kind of host it is, I guess! If I end up in a collective, I'll pull my weight. I'm also drawing a lot of the time, so I can for sure offer drawings. :) And probably hitchhiking stories.
