About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I have a short break before grad school starts again for summer classes. With a bit of this break, Wendy and I hope to explore sites on our way up to Omaha. We would love to find a place to stay over along the way. I hope to explore historical sites and other points of interest in Auburn, Falls City, Nebraska City, and the Platte River area. OR traveling through Iowa, stopping in Clarinda, Shenandoah, Red Oak...
ABOUT ME
I am happy. I love life. I love my family. I love my friends. I can truly say that.
I am different. I do not try to be different, I just am. I listen to NPR news and variety shows. I like camping even if it rains. I own a car, but I walk to work most days. I compost. I currently can recite six of Shakespeare’s Sonnets and I am working on a seventh for no good reason.
I have passions. My community and the Planet are on the top of my list. I also have a passion for meeting new people and is why I am on a couch surfing website.
PHILOSOPHY
I work for the greater good. I am tolerant of all, except Haters and Meanies.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We may have a spare room available.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I lived in a Student Housing Cooperative in Eugene, Oregon and have hosted many-a-couch. I have also stayed at several housing cooperatives in California, Oregon, and Iowa. Couch surfing helped me keep my batteries charged and offered a roof several times as I lived along the river(s) for 2 and 1/2 months and paddles my way to the Gulf of Mexico. I have surfed to marathons and other races, and I surfed all the way to CA! I have also attended one meetup. Amazing experiences and amazing people! Most recently, Wendy and I traveled to Memphis with a multi-surf experience along the way. I appreciate this community and it continues to amaze me!
Interests
Not only am I interested in a spectrum of subjects, I do things.
To name some of my many activities, I participate in river clean-ups and litter removal projects. I volunteer for a weekly food rescue/homeless advocacy group. I do anything outdoors and purchased a canoe this season. I love pizza.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My most memorable day was when I saw the ocean for the first time at age 21. Growing up landlocked, I will never forget this day.
Three recent excursions have been to paddle in a canoe from Lawrence, KS to the Gulf of Mexico, 2016. I explored Southern CA from beach to river, hitting every affordable hot spring along the way in 2015. I also went to the Philippines on a service trip in 2014.
Teach, Learn, Share
I foremost can share the work. Dishes? I vary in esoteric skills from trampolining to cooking vegetarian recipes. I also run a lot. I will always run with anyone, any pace, and any distance. Care to hit the trails?
What I Can Share with Hosts
I have a cooperative mindset and am always willing to help out.
