ABOUT ME

I'm from Iowa, love it here but spend most my time trying to stay away from the mid-west, play more soccer than time working. Since graduating from Iowa spent a year in the Franch Carribean teaching english to French kids, then I worked here n there for the YMCA, before making a small trip to New Zealand and then backpacking in Europe a bit. Then I returned home and worked for the Boys & Girls Club and the US Census, now I am touring accross the USofA by Bike checking out as many national parks as possible, before heading to Haiti to do some good in this world early next year. I enjoy any sporting activity outdoors, meeting new people, sharing stories and discussing the issues of this crazy world. My outlook on life would best be summed up in the music of Bob Marley or Sublime.

PHILOSOPHY

I try to enjoy every moment of every day, feel life is way too short to be stuck in an office most of the week. Want to do something about peek oil and climate change, but I'm just trying to have less of an impact on the environment while I travel. Try to stay out of the USofA as much as finacially possible, and hoping to one day find a place where Americanism hasn't touched the local population yet, starting to realize that it might not exist so I may have to compromize. I beleive in live and let live, that we need to attempt to live simply so that others may simply live. In the words of Bob Marley "Herb is the healing of a nation, alcohol is it's destruction", just wish that everyone who feels this way would stand up and say it. Think the design and development of the near future won't resemble the last century but the one before that, and thats not a bad thing, it's a necessary change if we ever hope to ever acheive a sustainable way of living.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

While I am a traveller at this time, so I cannot host surfers, I am very eager to meet others who feel we are in a global community that must try to open its doors to people from different walks of life.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have couchsurfed in Melbourne and Brisbane, Australia. Both experiences were excellent and I had good times with great people. Looking forward to trying somemore CS in Europe.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hit a hole in one golfing once. Lived in France for 3 years when 8-11. Without modern science (ACL tear and double bone break) I probably wouldn't be walking around, much less kicking a soccer ball.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am nearly fluent in French and have experience teaching English. Looking to learn Partugese. Always looking to share world political and social philosophies.
