About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I like to get a local perspective when I travel. I'm adventurous and would love to see your city through your eyes!
ABOUT ME
Well, a little about me... I'm Lance, a born and raised Texan who just moved to Seattle, WA to begin graduate school in the fall. I've been working for the past 5 years in Austin as a yoga teacher and I truly love what I do. It feels pretty awesome to be able to wake up every morning and look forward to working. As you can see in my profile, I was trained as a classical pianist in undergrad, and still try to play pretty frequently, assuming I find a piano!
I'm a really adventurous person, and constantly try to step out of my comfort zone. I was born a world traveler and adventurous eater and have been doing so my whole life, so I suppose I could say I've seen a lot!
In terms of my personality, my friends would say that I go back and forth between being quirky, spontaneous, a little wacky and energetic vs. quiet and introspective. I suppose that depends on the time of day, and whether you've caught me just after my daily yoga practice or not...
PHILOSOPHY
In terms of my experience, life revolves around learning, self reflection, the growth that results from that, and the mere passion for living and experiencing. These to me are of the most important aspects of being in this world and interacting with it.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I am a couch-surfing rookie! But I'm incredibly excited about it. I have a number of friends that have done it, and love the experience.
Interests
I really love to cook, and I enjoy drinking a good glass of wine, eating great food, traveling, playing the piano, swimming, running and practicing yoga. Being outdoors is amazing, and exploring things I've never seen. When I travel, I'm love exploring local nightlife!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
--visited Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and came face to face with wild mountain gorillas
--hiked the Himalayan foothills in India and made it through a massive storm at 14000ft
--almost brushed up against a wild lion that snuck into my camp in botswana.
Teach, Learn, Share
As I said, I'm a very experienced yoga teacher and a classically trained pianist. I LOVE to teach, and would be thrilled to share either of those to anyone willing to host me. Also, before I started my work in college as a pianist, I was a line cook in multiple restaurants in my hometown. So needless to say, I'm passionate about cooking, and love to cook for people. Take your pick! And as I mentioned previously, I'm always open to learning new things from others.
