Grew up on a farm in rural Oklahoma, now studying Mechanical engineering at Harvard. My radical shift in scenery has impelled me to expose myself to new people and life experiences that I would have otherwise been ignorant to while living on the farm; the only way to broaden your view on the world is to see it for yourself.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am studying in Scotland this summer, so I hope to branch out in the UK and around Europe to meet some new people while I'm here!

While hostels are very affordable, I think couchsurfing is a much better option regardless of price--it's the people that make a place. Rather than merely passing through an interesting land, you become a part of it and mingle with the people who call it home, sharing perspectives on the world that broaden both your viewpoint of the world and your host's.

Interests

I enjoy most things related to music. I have fun messing around on several instruments including tuba, trombone, violin, fiddle, piano and guitar. As far as listening, I enjoy every genre from classical to rap. I love hearing new music and hearing other people's favorite music.

I was raised out in the country, so I always find great peace in nature--whenever I get the opportunity, I go for a nice run, hike, or even just a walk in the sun.

Also, out on the farm, I occasionally had to be innovative with my time, so I like to tinker with anything I can get my hands on. I grew up working on, with, and around farm machinery, so I have quite a history of mechanical practicality. If you have something broken in your flat, maybe I can give it a quick look! I like fixing things and furthermore helping people--this is my drive for engineering.

Aside from that, I've serendipitously swam alongside wild dolphins multiple times.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm learning Spanish, and while I'm still slow, I enjoy the opportunity to practice!

As far as music, I am also willing to teach, learn, or share anything musical, whether it is helping you out on an instrument, or just jamming!

As I previously said, I am also very handy and will gladly take a look at anything you want fixed in your flat!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Quite often, I get "you're the first person I've met from Oklahoma"--even in the states. Hopefully the difference and diversity in backgrounds between me and my hosts sparks interesting conversations!
