About Me
I am a mid-20's guy who, like most on here, loves to travel. Some non travel centric stuff about me:
I love film. Started a film production company 2 years ago that produced several commercials airing all over the United States. My position in the company (which I started with a friend) was mostly the producer/business side helping write contracts and manage accounts, but I am beginning to delv into my own brand of film making. I hope to get plenty of practice on my trips, as it is something I love to do, and now finally have the time.
While I was starting that company (called JETBLACK FILM CO) I was finishing my masters of accountancy from the University of Wyoming. After graduating I was asked to come back and teach some business technology courses, along with a Governmental Accounting class... boring, but kinda fun. I do love to teach, and I think I will pursue my PHD one day with the hope of teaching in my home city of Fort Collins Colorado. I also taught courses on children's film and literature in the Honors College at the University of Wyoming as well. That was definitely my favorite!
Studying abroad in 2015 changed my life in so many ways. It exposed me to cheap-travel, the power of making international connections and an overall appreciation for 'simple experience'. I saved my money for the last couple years and have sold my lovely Jeep so that I can spend the next year or so in New Zealand.
I love to hike (us Coloradoans on the whole love camping), have competed in sports ranging from Tennis to Wrestling, and can't wait to try surfing in a more serious way. Colorado, sadly, definitely does not have any oceans.
Fort Collins, my home city, is known in some circles as the "Napa Valley" of beer! We have one of the most dense concentrations of Micro-Brewerys in the United States, and one of my favorite things is to chill, have a brew and talk about almost anything.
Also love: Video Games (on the occasion), reading (read 36 books last year, looking more like 25 this year), and I know a little guitar. One of my goals this next year is to play much more, and achieve a higher level of play. Teachers or jammers are welcome!
I hope to meet some amazing people
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
After several couch surfing experiences while studying in Germany, I can't look for anything else. It has been a long while since I have had the opportunity to use this app, and though no connections were made through my account (my experiences were all through friends traveling with me), I definitely plan on making plenty of friends around the world, learning about their lives, and inviting them to stay with me should they ever find themselves where I am located.
Human connection.
Interests
As noted in the "About Me" area, I started a film company 2 years ago with a friend. We produced several National Commercials from PSAs to Headphones, as well as several music videos for bands we were close to. I can send a link to some of the work if you are interested! My position in the company was mostly business-centric, but I am getting into my own film making, and love to practice photography and videography as much as I can.
I have read plenty over the past several years, ranging from fantasy epics (Brandon Sanderson, J.R.R. Tolkien..) to Non Fiction. My favorite author is a man named John Williams for his amazing pros and uncanny ability to weave stories I highly connect with. He sadly only wrote 3 books, but my favorite two are two of my favorite books of all time, Stoner and Butcher's Crossing.
I am a novice guitar player. There is no other way to say it. I just purchased a guitar, but will also buy one where I travel, always looking to improve and learn more about the instrument!
I do own a Switch, and sometimes will power it on for some good old Mario Kart or Zelda!
