About Me

Salutations! My name is Lane and I currently reside in Illinois.

-Music Nerd - Cat Lover - Ravenous Reader - Daydreamer - Eager Student - Aspiring Author - Amateur Bicycle Mechanic - Board Game Geek - Hopeful World Traveller - Road Dawg- Vegan

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I really want to learn more about the world around me; to meet people and learn from their perspectives and experiences while spreading as much joy and good will as I can. Life is too short and too interesting to keep to yourself.

I also want to learn more about myself through my travels.

Let's hang out and make memories together!

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a self-proclaimed music nerd so I try listen to many different genres and sub-genres. My all-time favorites are Alkaline Trio, Sleep Bellum Sonno, Soul Coughing, the Promise Ring, Kind of Like Spitting, and Joie De Vivre.

My three favorite films of all time are In Bruges, Drive, and Oldboy (Chan-wook Park). I absolutely adore the works of Studio Ghibli/Hayao Miyazaki (particularly Laputa: Castle in the Sky).

I. Love. Reading. I really like H.P. Lovecraft's Collected Works, the Little Prince, The Count of Monte Cristo, Our Band Could Be Your Life, and anything by Hunter S. Thompson or Haruki Murakami. I am most recently interested in poetry and Japanese literature.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I I spent three-months backpacking solo around Japan (my first time outside of the US) Sep-Dec 2017

Teach, Learn, Share

As a native English-speaker, I could help you practice English. I also have an extensive knowledge of music and music history I could share. In addition, I can teach you basic bicycle maintenance and repair.

I am eager to learn whatever I can: a new skill, a new language, a new game, a new way of thinking or perspective. I am a sponge.

Also, I love kids. I just became an uncle for the first time (August 13, 2017). Unbelievably stoked! I welcome babysitting opportunities!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Friendship, laughs, memories.. Really, anything and everything. I want to open myself up to my hosts and leave a piece of me wherever I go!
