About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Meet the grandmother in Mexico who has been making adobo for 65 years, the regional pastry chef in Vietnam who fuses typical French pastry techniques with local ingredients, the cafe owner in New Orleans who has been serving up po'boys since the 40s.
ABOUT ME
It's probably pretty obvious. I love food. I am a media producer, and one day I got a gig on a documentary for a local TV station in melbourne, Australia, researching, writing and photographing migrants who have contributed to the fabric of the community. My gosh - spending days learning about new foods, tasting, exploring, talking to the most interesting people. I thought - this. I must do this with my life. So I trained as a pastry chef, teacher, and majored in Food Journalism in my Masters of Food Studies. I now travel and make videos, learn about cuisines, dishes, and research culinary heritage. Oh, and I LOVE to cook with people.
PHILOSOPHY
You can never cross the ocean unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
As stated above, I love to cook with and for people. Whenever staying with people I love to cook meals and share food, wine, a good chat and laughter. As a trained chef I am also fastidiously clean and tidy!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've couchsurfed a couple of times in the USA and met some AWESOME people. I've made some good friends who I will definitely catch up with in the future - and hopefully when I settle down I can return the marvellous hospitality I have been shown!. My favourite was when a magnificent grad student opened his doors and his life to a friend and I during Mardi Gras in New Orleans - we were so blessed to stay with him, we had SO much fun going out with him and his friends, cooking meals together and going to all the parades just outside of his apartment. Couchsurfing made my first Mardi gras an experience I will never ever forget.

Teach, Learn, Share
Well, I cook. I collect recipes, skills, techniques and ingredients from around the globe. And my entire passion and career is about sharing these things. I can make pretty good bread and pastry. I do pretty mean fresh pasta and Thai curries and salads (I learned from Thailands three-time culinary champion in Phuket in 2012).
