Overview
About Me
Chao! I'm Lanvi. I'm from Orange County, California. Vietnamese-American.
I love to travel and everything that it entails: meeting new characters of all walks of life and finding different ways to connect and relate, experiencing the nuances and idiosyncrasies of different cultures, all the food and flavors, music through the decades, etc.
I'm still figuring out my place in this world, and how I can maneuver through it as ethically, sustainably, and empathetically as possible.
I grew up by the ocean so it’s a big part of my life. I spend a lot of my free time in the water: swimming, free-diving, surfing, etc.
I love to take photos and am currently learning film photography. I love to draw, vintage hunting/thrifting/flea markets, dance, chase live music, gardening, herbalism. adrenaline-inducing activities such has motorcycling and skateboarding.
When I turned 20, I decided to go on my first solo backpacking/motorcycling trip to Viet Nam. I originally planned to stay 3 months (thinking that was enough) but ended up living there for 9 months. It was a personal pilgrimage back to my homeland with the intent of reconnecting to my roots and blood. I rode on two-wheeled vehicles for the entirety of my trip!
I've had my Couchsurfing account since 2017, but never officially used it until I was in Viet Nam of August 2018. I only used it a couple times for CS Hangouts. I have never hosted nor have I been hosted by someone, so I currently do not have any references. But if I were to be hosted, I can assure you that I am a kind, mindful, and respectful person. I will start investing and using Couchsurfing more as my travel ventures progress!
My next trip is to New Orleans (10/27-11/4) and I would love to make some new connections.
