Sobre mí
CURRENT MISSION
Enjoy life . . . and improve upon it however I can
ABOUT ME
I am a guy with a continuing education, a desire to travel, and a drive to discover ways to help my community and find fulfillment in my life at the same time. I love hosting and have found it to be a very rewarding experience, however . . .
In this period of my life, I'm very busy and IT IS DIFFICULT for me to host. But I still LOVE to host, and share and explore, I just have to be more picky about who I host. Sooo, if you think we will get along great, go ahead and shoot me a request with some explanation of why, and what you're about. I'm not looking to hook up, so you thinking I look cute isn't going to cut it. Seriously. Or you being cute. Or us having this whole 'liking to travel' thing in common. If you liked those last few sentences, we'll get along great ;)
If you'd just like to hang out, 1-2 days in advance is best. Any more notice and it's hard for me to know if I'll be available. Most of my free time is spent hiking, or going to museums/cultural stuff in LA, so if you're up for some of that, get in touch.
PHILOSOPHY
Have you ever heard or read or seen something inspiring and uplifting? Something that made you feel at peace, and like your previous view of life and your world had been through an old window covered in dust, but now that window has been thrust open, and you are traveling THROUGH the window into what is the rest of your wonderful life? THAT´S my personal philosophy, that or something similar.
Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I spread the CS love by word of mouth and action. Hosting, surfing, organizing events, and offering my home as a meeting place.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've been hosting since I settled down in 2009. We've had maybe 50 people come through our house, mostly good experiences, some fantastic :)
I've surfed 3 times so far (through this site): 1st time was with my Mom in Argentina, 2nd was in Boston (in the late summer: hot, humid, and rainy with thunderstorms :) 3rd time was on the coast of Oregon (where I was given some of the tastiest tortillas of my life).
There have been a few times when I either did not need, or wasn't able to find a host, but met up with CSers for a drink or a little adventure . . . those have been some of the best experiences so far.
Intereses
Aikido, trekking, cooking, random acts of kindness, exploration, group dynamics, the efficiency of being nice . . . among other things.

Música, películas y libros
Music: Jon Hopkins, Delvon Lamar Organ Trio, Ozomatli, Blackalicious, Julietua Venegas, Mana, Spearhead, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Manu Chau, DJ Shadow, Cut Chemist, Quannum, Sugar Mountain Mommas, Ben Harper, Xavier Rudd, Willie Nelson, Peruvian festival music, random songs played in the street or by travelers in hostels . . . and Chicha!!!
Books: mostly stuff I pick up in hostels, some favorites have been - the Kite Runner, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, The Historian, Anil's Ghost . . .
Algo increíble que he hecho
A 9 day trek in southern Patagonia, with no one around for tens (maybe hundreds?) of miles and at one point, a strong sense that if anything happened, we were completely on our own. . .
Enseña, aprende, comparte
What can I teach? A little bit of Aikido, how to make a home more energy efficient both before and after construction, some ultra-light backpacking basics, the joy of hammocking, English (the traveler´s stand-by :)
What can I learn? I´d rather not think about it at this point, there´s just waaay too many things. I´d like to learn a little reiki, massage, and maybe find a good business model for a green/sustainable housing development company.
What can I share? Traveling experiences, why I like shared (communal) living, the adventures of a tour guide/bus driver . . . this list could go on, but it´s safe to say that it is only eclipsed by the number of things I have to learn :)
