Overview
About Me
My name is Lara, I´m a nineteen year old visual arts student wanting to enjoy life and meet new people. I started college too young (I was only seventeen), and after one year studying I decided I had to experience new things before continuing my academic life. So I´m taking a year to travel around, meet new people, new places and learn a little about myself. I lived in Buenos Aires for some months and now I want to travel a bit more.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm interested in Couchsurfing because I think is an amazing way to travel, as you can meet people and exchange experiences in your way. For me traveling is not only being in a different place, I want to enjoy the new culture.

Music, Movies, and Books
I´m pretty eclectic when it comes to music, I usually listen to Brazilian songs, but I'm really open to discover new genres. I don't think I have a favorite song, though I absolutely have a favorite singer, Chico Buarque.
I really enjoy cinema, specially thriller movies, my favorite one is Kubrick's "The Shining".
I read a lot, lately I've been reading mostly art books and some poetry, my favorite ones are Gombrich's "The Story Art" and one anthology of Alfonsina Storni that I have been reading for years.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of the things that marked me the most was volunteering in a public school in São Paulo, Brazil. Some years ago I started working on a project that connected high schoolers who were willing to help with teachers from some public schools who needed help. I would go to this school after my class for two years to solve doubts the kids were having. It was truly the most amazing experience I have ever had, the idea that what I had learnt in school was enough to help others for me was really incredible. I didn't needed to be older than I was or to have any political power. I just had to go, for some hours a week to teach things I knew, and that could change a lot of things.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love cooking and I like to think I do it well, it´s always a pleasure to cook for other people or (why not?) teach a recipe. I also enjoy to draw, paint and do graffiti, I would gladly share my experience with that. And I know it takes a lot of time to learn a new language, but I speak portuguese, english and spanish and I would love to help someone learninig or even practicing one of these languages.
As for learning, I think I would enjoy anything one could teach me, words in other languages, songs, recipes...
What I Can Share with Hosts
I would love to cook something or, if I have more time, even work on a graffiti project. But most of all, I would enjoy sharing my traveling experiences and learning about the host's culture.
