About Me

I have two profiles on couchsurfing and I don't think I ever used this one much. Oh well, here goes.
I started travelling independently when I was 17. 20 years later I'm still doing it.
I have been a teacher, community theatre director, film director, I run an independent cinema in north-west England, live on a sheep farm with my mum since 18 months ago when my dad died. I made a feature film about a bunch of people living together in an unusual place, partly inspired by couchsurfing. Trailer is www.datschefilmcom/videos
I'm not here to date but to travel and meet people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've travelled a lot and accepted the kindness of strangers all over the world. Right now I have moved back to my parents' farm to be close to my mum after my dad died, and I have a four bedroom barn conversion all to myself. It seems a shame not to use those extra bedrooms.

Music, Movies, and Books

It depends on the day of the week! Currently reading 'The Manioka Sisters' by Tanizaki to accompany me on a trip to Japan. Last film I saw and enjoyed before leaving for here was 'The Station Agent', with Peter Dinklage, which is something of a couch surfer's movie.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I don't like these questions. When I was a kid I ate so many pancakes I threw up.

Teach, Learn, Share

Music, languages, food, poetry, books, singing, dancing, going for explorations WITHOUT google maps. I have a car and like to just head off places too.

What I Can Share with Hosts

The above. Gratitude and a smile.
