About Me

Hello! I am a South African, living in Southern California. I spend most of my time painting and going to college, and dream of traveling more. When I do travel I explore places with my husband Jason and my daughter James.
We are mostly road-trippers, who enjoy exploring the world through the people who inhabit it.
We love to share meals with interesting people, my husband is a photographer and collecting tales of peoples adventures has become something of a hobby for us.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Traveling through locals is so much more fun than staying in hotels?

Interests

Music, travel, art, food, interesting human beings... Our experiences are what shape us, sharing those experiences is my happy place.
We travel mostly by road, and have slept in our car / a tent in some interesting places, if I am reaching out to you it is probably because you appear to be an interesting human being, we couch surf and Air BnB, mostly couch surfing is about meeting people, sharing a meal, experiencing their city through their stories.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to Amanda Palmer, NOFX, Rancid, Russian Red, Regina Spektor, Against me!, random opera stuff, The Darkness, Foxy Shazam, Tori Amos, Tom Waits...etc etc
I read Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett and Salman Rushdie and Roald Dahl and Patrick Rothfuss,I love poetry and am particularly fond of Bukowski, Sexton, Berryman and Mojgani... I like all the movie adaptations real people hate, like Cuaron's great expectations and Luhrmanns Romeo and Juliet. Big Fish astounds me every time I re-watch it. I love to watch great terrible stuff like Rocky horror and Dirty dancing with my daughter.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2010 my family and I moved to Southern California, from South Africa, with no real family or contacts on this side of the planet, and with a suitcase of possessions each - best decision we ever made.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories, joy, vegetarian / pescetarian meals, weird illustrations... We will cook you dinner, share travel stories, a good bottle of wine...

Countries I’ve Visited

Botswana, England, France, New Zealand, Swaziland, Zimbabwe
