About Me

Hi,

My name is Lara, and I come from the most beautiful country on Earth Slovenia (Yes, I can state this, because I am currently living abroad; dear Netherlands I do still like you). For that reason, I no longer have a decent couch to offer. ;)

Going near 24 years of existence on this precious Planet. I don't hold a lot; for now just a degree in Biopsychology and many dreams what to do for a living. If you've never heard of this profession in a few words; it's like traditional psychology, mainly focusing on human biology (primarily the brain and nervous system).

Slovenia: I'm living in a small charming village. As I kid, I've learned to live with whatever nature gave - fresh wind, landscapes, food, shelter... I love woods, green, green grass, peace, never-ending view of panoramas, mountains, animals... ;) Despite that I spent two years in a capital city Ljubljana; check it out, its beautiful old town!

If you ask me how my life would look like when I grow old. I have had this clear dreams and ideas, yet lately, my only wish is to get there. I will fight for it, as we all must if, we would like to grow old on this earth. #teamspirit ;)

Besides, my other interests are definitely music! I was learning classical singing, and I have a band (or two, maybe three...the truth is I am living in a very musical environment, so we're breathing music). ;)

I love reading, writing, crocheting...

And traveling!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've never had a chance to offer my couch, and I've never been couch-surfing either. But I want to try it!

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Russian literature is my favourite one. I kind a feel in love in Russian men, full of melancholy, sadness and his misery. The best writer is Dostoevsky! Solzhenitsyn, Tolstoy,...
I also love Russian poetry...Pushkin, Lermontov..

Uff and I really like Herman Hesse.
Hhh and my favorite book from my childhood is Ronia, the Robber's daughter (Astrid Lindgren)

And a lot of others...

Music*
The Maccabees, Interpol, Ben Howard, Laura Marling, Qotsa. AM, Sigur Ros, Alt-J, Russian circles, Bon Iver, God is an astronaut, Nils Frahm, A perfect circle, Warpaint, John Frusciante, Edith Piaf. Ella Fitzgerald and many more...I hope you get the picture ;)

Movies: Hmm Russian movies! You really need to see Leviathan, and The postman's white nights. But my favorite director is Malick.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hmm, I don't know. But the most fantastic thing I have ever done was probably a ticket to India. ;)

Teach, Learn, Share

Besides growing old, I do want to save my inner kid from becoming all grumpy and lazy. As immature as it sounds, here's a short story why; my roommate and I had a tradition of yearly little autumn trips somewhere close. A couple years ago we went to Vienna. On a train, we met a kind old Viennese. We were making fun of some German words, which made him laugh. This had led us into a lovely conversation about his life in Vienna, violin, and his marriage (they just had 33 anniversary). Experiences had taught him a lot about life, and he shared with us some of his pearls of wisdom;
NEVER FORGET TO WONDER! When a little kid sees a dog, and he starts laughing, screaming and pointing at him. And of course, as a responsible grown-up person you don't want to bring others attention you try to stop your child's excitement; stop it, it's just a dog. Next time when this happens: try to see a world in more colorful tones; the world around us is always something new, something special.
YOU NEED TO STOP SOMETIMES. This world is pretty messy, we've forgotten how to breathe with whole lungs. Time flies so quickly if we are not going to be present we going to miss everything.
