About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Avoid the pressure of being cornered into a "normal" life. Adventure just sounds like more fun :)
ABOUT ME
I am a 27 year old California native originally from Santa Cruz, but spent the last 10 years of my life in Santa Barbara. At the beginning of 2018 I quit my job of 5 years and uprooted my life. My main goal in doing so was to challenge myself and step as far out of my comfort zone as I could to see what it taught me. I am currently planning to move to Seattle, but am taking a few weeks to to road trip with my best friend through the Western half of the U.S. Looking forward to getting to know more of my own country and all of the beautiful and interesting people and places I can along the way!
I graduated from college with a degree in political science but have found my passion to be in non-profit work, especially dealing with international humanitarian aid. I consider myself to be very open and I am always eager to meet new people and for new experiences. Nature and animals keep me sane. As do kind and open people (most of the people I've met through couchsurfing have been both of these.)
PHILOSOPHY
Always be genuine! Don't be afraid to CARE and show your passion.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I first began couch surfing when I was studying abroad in South America and I was incredibly impressed with the unique and generous people I met. Since returning to the states I have hosted others including one friend who first hosted me in Brazil.
Interests
Music, music, music! Through live shows, personal collections, or just conversation. I also love to read, write and volunteer when possible (not to be cheesy, but it just genuinely makes me feel good). I love discussing politics and social issues, especially with people from other countries and cultures. I just bought my first real camera and am looking forward to playing with it learning more about photography.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music.. its so hard to narrow it down as I truly love it all and my preferences change everyday. I love old Soul and classic rock n roll. I've delved into electronic as well, but hip hop will always be my first love. Some favorite artists off the top of my head are Etta James, Otis Redding, Jimi Hendrix, Alabama Shakes, Frank Ocean, Tupac, Kendrick Lamar, J.Cole, Lauryn Hill, Rolling Stones, Griz, etc.
Movies.. Some all time favorites include The Big Lebowski, Inglorious Basterds, Good Will Hunting, Almost Famous, One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest. My favorite movie that I've seen of late was Blindspotting.
Books.. My two favorite authors are Kurt Vonnegut and Mark Twain, each for their satirical brilliance. Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse Five will probably forever be my favorite book. Currently reading the Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A few years ago I travelled through Guatemala and spent my 25th birthday at the ancient Mayan ruins of Tikal. Getting to climb a Mayan pyramid and watch the sunset from atop is probably one of the most incredible things I have done as of yet. This was also my first solo travel experience and to date probably my favorite. Not to sound cliche, but it was very empowering and the kindness of the people I met in Guatemala will stick with me forever.
What I Can Share with Hosts
With any host, I would hope to be as helpful as possible around their home. I really enjoy cooking and would love the opportunity to do so for anyone who is hosting me. Besides that I just hope to share general good vibes, conversation and experiences!
