About Me

Hello community!

My name is Lara and I'm studying geology at the University of Edinburgh (Scotland) in an Erasmus exchange, my home University is the Universidad de Salamanca. I was born and raised in Valladolid (Northern half of Spain) and later I moved to Salamanca to study my degree. Now I am living in Scotland, a country which I have absolutely fallen in love for.

During my life I've gone for a wide range of activities (chess, roller skating, choir singing, karate, violin, oil painting...) I am always up for trying something new. Right now I belong to the Ladies Rubgy team at uni, and I absolutely love that sport!

In my free time I usually binge watch some series, go out to take photographs or do some watercolor painting if I'm inspired.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've enjoyed traveling since I was a child, anything from a day in the mountain to a month in the East Coast of the US gives me extreme joy. Getting to know the differences from each culture, the traditions, languages, fears and dreams; makes me happy. There are so many places I want to visit, but I'm still young so I'll take it easy.
What I love the most of communities like Coachsurfing is not only the fact that it allows you to do some travelling in a budget (which as a student I really appreciate) but also that it gives you the complete experience of a place. The essence of a country lies within their people, they are the ones that make it special, and that's what I hope I can get in here: the chance to learn about a city by learning from its inhabitants. Cultural exchange brings us together as citizens of the world.

Music, Movies, and Books

In my free time I really enjoy all these three (mum and dad did it well apparently)
If I had to choose, i'd say 70's and 80's pop is my happy place, but if you saw my spotify you's find many other things: jazz, some rock, 20's hits (who doesn't love a bit of Gatsby style), classical music (I actually enjoy opera so much)...
There are many movies that make me happy... I am a big fan of Star Wars, Marvel (so much I once coplayed Loki, sorry DC fans), and muscials like Moulin Rouge have a special spot in my heart... if I had to choose some titles I'd say "Dead Poets Society" and "The Godfather".
I like reading novel, some scientific texts, also poetry... some books that I love are 1984 by George Orwell, and of course Harry Potter when I was younger (still love it tho). Right now I am enjoying "A brief History of time" by Stephen Hawking.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I absolutely LOVE cooking and won't hesitate in making some nice Spanish recipes (did someone say Spanish Omelette?). Also always up for a new local beer around some interesting stories.

Also I am a respectful and clean person (your home your rules), this community is about generosity AND respect! <3
