About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to live in the moment, go places and be amazed
ABOUT ME
I'm Lara, I'm from the capital city of Australia and I try to make the most and best of everything.
I like people who make me laugh, I also like to think that I'm funny sometimes, I like going to the beach but I can't surf, I love food more than many things in life, I've been told that I'm a nice person, I like beer as much as I like wine, and I enjoy buying books.
I finished my bachelor degree in July 2009 and thought, 'why not go to Europe?' I'm travelling for a few months and then hoping to find some kind of job in Denmark (where my dad is from and lives).
At home I work in a hostel - this way I can pretend to be travelling even when I'm not. I can also help people every now and then - except with directions, I'm bad at directions.
I'm easy going and pretty ok with whatever gets thrown my way. Oh and my name is Lara, not Laura.
PHILOSOPHY
Over time I've realised that life is best and easiest if you just choose to do what will make you happiest then and there.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm new to this, but I hope to be fun to host, I hope I can provide a sweet pad for travellers in need when I go home (and get to find out all their quirks when I do)...
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Well I've only had two couchsurfing experiences. Both in Spain and both lots of fun and worthwhile.
I hope more experience is on the cards for me sometime in the near future!
Interests
I'm interested in things like films, history (kind of wish I'd studied it at university), cooking, I find biographies about interesting people... well... interesting. Luckily I find linguistics really interesting since I spent three years studying it! I like learning about religions and different cultures and variations in the way people live around the world.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love music alot, it is possibly the thing I treasure most in life (that doesn't breathe and eat). My favourite band is Radiohead. I also like Smashing Pumpkins, Jeff Buckley, The Kooks, Arcade Fire, Vampire Weekend, Explosions in the Sky, Coldplay, Phoenix, Royksopp and it goes on... I also like music from other countries... it's all pretty cool. Oh and 80s music and bad/awesome karaoke songs.
Films are good, I studied them and I've seen alot. I like Dead Man, Donnie Darko, Martin Scorcese and Kurosawa do well, Spanish Apartment, City of Lost Children, A Streetcar named Desire, Inglorious Basterds was cool but Pulp Fiction is still my favourite, Trainspotting, Chinatown, Singin' in the Rain, Apocalypse Now, Forgetting Sarah Marshall and other hilarious movies that make me cry from laughing...
And How I met your mother is the best tv show in the world. As well as Black Books.
Books I've read and loved would have to be: Love in the Time of Cholera, Heart of Darkness, 1984, Everything is Illuminated, The Loved One, Rebecca, On the Road, Dorian Gray. There are more but I have a terrible memory.
