About Me

Hi everyone! You can call me Salsa (yes, like a dance 💃 )

I am originally from Bogor, Indonesia. Currently, I live in Gainesville, FL, for my master's degree at the University of Florida, studying Sustainable Development Practice, where I am learning how to address society’s complex development challenges (e.g., health, education, poverty, inequality, etc.). If you are a psychology junkie, I’m an ENFJ. An extrovert who gets excited about meeting new people and having new experiences. My friends consider me someone who is empathetic, positive, reliable, organized, and outgoing.

Currently, I'm exploring spirituality, quantum physics, meditation, and mindfulness in hopes of discovering my authentic self and what my life purpose is while also achieving my health and well-being.

My simple pleasures are early morning walks, hikes, sunset, birds chirping, basically, everything to connect with nature. I love to travel, and I am hoping to be able to travel to all the US states during my study here!

If you need my immediate response, please spam me at: https://www.facebook.com/laras.salsabilaa/ or https://www.instagram.com/la.sals/

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to make the most of my time studying in the US. Thus, my current dream is to be able to travel all around the US states. For me, travel should be meaningful. It should excite and inspire you, rejuvenate and ground you, educate and challenge you, and, most importantly, humble you. And what’s the best way to experience all of these while traveling? Through Couchsurfing. Human is the best storyteller, and I love making new connections. I get excited listening to people’s stories and always learn something from them. Travel teaches me about humanity and gives me an appreciation, understanding, and respect for different points of view and ways of life.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love watching movies! I like all movies genre except horror (only dare to watch together with friends). I also watch TV series like Friends (my all time favorite), Money Heist, Stranger things, Riverdale, How I Met Your Mother, New Girl, How to Get Away with Murder, Scandal, Vampire Diaries, Grey's Anatomy, and Sherlock, and many more!

I am an avid reader of self development books, and also historical.

I listen to music everytime when I'm bored. I love all the genre except rock/metal because those give me some headache somehow. I love all those late 80s, 90s and early 2000s songs!

What I Can Share with Hosts

As a token of gratitude and something to remember me by, I’ll bring a small gift for you. Also, I’m a clean freak so if you need my help cleaning your space, please don’t hesitate to ask! Lastly, if you’re curious about Indonesian dishes, say no more! I’ll buy the grocers and cook for you :D
