ABOUT ME

Born and raised in the Bay Area in Northern California, I am a fourth year UCLA undergraduate student majoring in Mass Communication with a minor in Global Studies. For that minor, I am currently participating in UCLA's travel study program in Paris from June 27 through July 29. This is my first experience outside of America, and I'm excited to make the most of it. I've always wanted to travel, and I've been saving up to go to Europe for about 7 years now. So, after this program is over, I will be traveling across Europe on a quest to explore the coolest new places meeting fun new people, from July 29 through August 17. My goals are to visit Amsterdam, Berlin, Prague, and Barcelona.

To me, this trip is about more than just sight seeing. Part of my trip will be with friends, part of it solo, parts in hostels and others on couches. In the midst of all that, I want to meet people, hear their stories, and tell my own. I want to learn about these places and cultures, experience the kinds of things you just can't understand from books or tv or your friend that took the trip there without you. I want to learn about myself, because I know I don't know myself as well as I should or even as well as I think I do. But I'm open to all of it. I don't really fit the mold of either a partier or a chiller, so I tend to drift towards people who wander between the two like myself. Though I'm down to surf with either type, of course... I'm pretty flexible, preferentially anyway. I love to have fun, to go out, try new things, eat crazy foods, explore as much as possible... especially by bike, as that's how I learned the terrain of LA; I hope to bike around a few of the cities I visit, because there's really nothing like gliding past everything propelled by your own two feet, seeing so many of those things you'd overlook in the car or metro... not that I have any problems with walking and public transit, of course! I'm sure I'll be using both quite a bit on this trip. In any case, I can't wait to see what Europe has to offer, and I'm excited to meet some cool new people through CS! :)

[***NOTE: I know I don't have many references yet, so if you're a potential host and want to find out more about me, feel free to check out my profile and/or friend request me at http://www.facebook.com/lklitzke.***]

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None yet... I'm a new CSer, just starting to branch out here, but I have have yet to meet other CSers in Paris. Still, I've absolutely loved getting to know my fellow students, seeing the sights with them, and talking to local Parisians out and about the town. And of course, I'm very excited to surf some couches in Europe after I leave Paris!

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite movie: Amelie

Favorite books: Harry Potter series

Favorite music: No single favorite, but I listen mostly to alternative and indie rock. Really though, I love all sorts of music, especially listening to local artists wherever I happen to go.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've done both outdoor and indoor skydiving, zip-lining, and surfing. I've biked down a volcano in Maui, and I've leaped over fire and cars in SoCal's Warrior Dash. But really, I'm just a friendly, fun-loving girl who wants to learn more about the world and discover what's beyond the boundaries of California. I think I'm on the right track. :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm pretty good at cooking and whistling. minimal skills in bike tricks and tae kwon do. miscellaneous talents with a few other random things. I also love talking... and talking is sharing, no?
