About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Just moved to Panajachel, Guatemala, for the next 18 months to work on Education projects with local Maya communities.

ABOUT ME

I'm a pretty chill person, I love traveling (as probably all of us) and getting to know a new country in a not so touristic way, which is why I enjoy the idea of couch surfing. For me, it is really important to be nice to people and treat them like I want to be treated.
A place can be anything from horrible to great depending only on the people you spend your time with. I prefer spending time with people and learning from them to running around trying to get pictures of everything in the travel guide. Which doesn't mean that I don't go out to see stuff as well ;)
Feel free to ask me anything and get to know me better :)

PHILOSOPHY

Live your life to the fullest and look at the bright side of things.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Until now, I have only surfed an met up with people. Due to the living situation as a student (shared flats, roommates, little space) I have not yet hosted, but I would like to do so as soon as I can.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've stayed with some amazing hosts in the US, Venezuela, Colombia and Spain, had very positive experiences with caring, respectful and very amiable people who showed me the best of their cities. I love the fact that CS is such a strong community where people actually still look out for each other!

Interests

Sports, being active in the nature or the city, might do anything from more extreme sports (definitely want to try parachuting at some point!) to just walking around . Recently I fell in love with doing Yoga. I also like to party, dance (preferably any latin or other danceable music, never gotten around to liking techno), am a coffee fanatic (without my morning coffee, the day is just half as good ;), I love a good conversation that goes a bit beyond small-talk and I'm absolutely into learning languages!
And food. Any kind of food. Especially lots of it :D I am not vegetarian/vegan, but I don't eat a lot of meat either and I like the healthy, creative style of cooking that lots of vegetarians have. Sometimes that slice of pizza is irresistible though ;)

Music, Movies, and Books

I like keeping my mind occupied with interesting new thoughts and enter a new world everytime I open a book. Some of my favourite authors are John Irving, Heinrich Boell, Leo Tolstoi, Janet Fitch, George R.R. Martin, and Dostojewski.
Films: American Beauty, Pirates of the Carribean, Juno, The Fast and the Furious, Life of Brian, Survive Style, Lord of the Rings Trilogy/ The Hobbit, Watchmen, Gimme Shelter, Black Swan, ...
When it comes to music it really depends on my mood, but generally I like music you can dance to (salsa, bachata, merengue, reggaeton,...)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Stranding at a random bus station in Venezuela in the middle of the night and being taken in by a local family who welcomed me into their home without hesitating!

Teach, Learn, Share

I think you can learn something from anyone, either in a good or in a bad way - I definitely prefer good ;) But seriously, talking to people from other cultures, other backgrounds is almost always fascinating.
