Overview
About Me
I teach Biology and Earth Science at a high school in Pittsboro, North Carolina. As you might imagine, as a science teacher, I adore the natural world (with a special sweet spot for the oddities of the insect and fungal worlds). I also enjoy being active outdoors--running, biking, hiking, you name it. I try to be mindful of the value in all daily experiences and interactions, and love to have the chance to extend this to new locations and people when I'm traveling as well. As a whole, I'm fairly laid back-- I enjoy cooking, making art, and meeting new people.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm looking to meet people traveling through the area, and do some couch-surfing of my own this summer as I take a road trip across the country to visit my sister. As a host I will happily give hiking, biking, running, restaurant, coffee-shop, dancing, etc. recommendations for the area.
I appreciate the welcoming and open community of couchsurfing--it is refreshing to meet people who aren't afraid of meeting and learning from strangers! I enjoy learning a local spin on a region and seeing a sliver of a stranger's life in an area.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books, books, books! Some favorites of this year: Overstory, by Richard Powers, some new short stories by Amy Hempel, and a few memoirs (just finished Educated by Tara Westover, and My Life on the Road, by Gloria Steinem.) I'm always craving some good book recommendations, and will happily do some book-swapping with couch-surfers.
