About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To travel, enjoy the small things, meet new people, and little by little, try to save the world. :) I think that when things go the way you plan, you have fun... when they don't, you have good stories. Either way, you get a great experience. My mission is to continue that.

ABOUT ME

I'm laid back, continually optimistic, an introvert at heart but able to fake it fairly well, and I tend to "wing it" quite often. I live simply and consciously, and save so I can travel. I care about the environment and do what I can to minimize my impact (air travel unfortunately is my biggest exception). Most of my trips have been for climbing, backpacking, or to visit friends, and I tend to prefer sitting in a mountain shack sharing tea with a local over taking a selfie in a tourist hot spot. I started couchsurfing as a single traveler, but have since gotten my fiance hooked. A bit of backstory on us if he comes with me: We grew up in Colorado, met in college, and lived out of a tiny camper after we graduated, making our way across the country living outside and sleeping inside, more or less. Tyler studied physics and philosophy, so we used to tell people he was the brains while I was the brawn.

PHILOSOPHY

"If you don't change direction, you may end up where you're headed."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We surf, we host.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed all across the US and internationally, and everyone I've met, both hosts and surfers, have been amazing! It's been fun sharing stories, skills, and the local vibe. Meeting locals through couchsurfing is still my favorite way to experience a place.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: comedy, action, animation, and psychological thrillers/suspense
Music: not a fan of country
Books: YES!!! The Ascent of Rum Doodle, Lamb, and The Tao of Pooh are some of my favorites, and ones I've read multiple times. Mindset, Galapagos, Frankenstein, and The Inferno are some that have influenced me most. I tend to gravitate toward humor, travel writing, or non-fiction, but I'll read just about anything.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've roasted marshmallows on hot lava, raised almost $2,000 and shaved my head for a cause I believed in, climbed with a broken foot, and managed to live through two situations I probably shouldn't have.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach someone climbing technique, and how to do a ton of stupid-human tricks. I'd like to learn just about anything anyone is willing to teach.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Indonesia, Italy, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mexico, Nepal, Netherlands, Philippines, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, United Kingdom
