About Me

Hello there,

my name is Lars and I just finished studying Agricultural Science in Kleve, Germany. Currently I am doing a research internship at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences / Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Right now, I am living for three months in Rio. If I'm not working on my internship, I am most likely at one of the great beaches or exploring the city.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

So far I haven't used Couchsurfing a lot, but I thought it might be a great way to get to know some people in Rio. I try my best to learn Portuguese, but right now the language barrier is quite high for me. So I hope to find some English speaking people by using Couchsurfing.

Interests

My main interests are hiking, playing frisbee and reading. I used to boulder for a while, but I don't know how well I can do that in Rio.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like bands as Interpol, alt-j and Metronomy. But actually I don't have a specific taste for music. So mostly everything is fine to me. When it comes to films, I prefer to watch movies aside from the mainstream blockbuster à la Marvel and co. I really like to go to the cinema though. In the past I was a lazy reader but recently I again picked it up as a hobby. The last books I read include classic novels like "Catcher in the Rye" or "To kill a mocking bird", or German speaking authors like Max Frisch, Dürrenmatt or Fontane. I don't know why, but I like these books which you might have been forced to read in school a lot. Ah, and I am currently reading my Portuguese Language Book a lot, even though I am still doing poorly when it comes to speaking Portugues.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Last year I did a really nice kayak tour in North-East Germany. Together with three friends, we paddled from camping side to camping side and enjoyed the National Park in which we did the tour. It was so quiet and peacefull (on lakes, not the camping side).

Countries I’ve Visited
